    Default Removing Americas from DLV6.2; Help?

    I have been trying my hand at stripping americas from the map for DLV6.2
    I used Geomod for some elements, but discovered that the reformating Geomod does to the mod mangles much of Repman's own functional scripting (example-removes all PSFs).

    Spent several extra hours remaking the descr_strat.txt file without the use of Geomod.
    Progressed very well.

    But in the end am not seeing the map (never saw it last time either).
    It is CTD during campaign load screen.
    And the trace log has no clear errors again, only assorted warnings that confuse me.
    Warnings about missing files that are never called for in the original DLV6.2 modfolder.
    File comparisons show me that Geomod rewrites the descr_strat.txt file considerably, removing any functional (Repman) script that doesn't conform to Geomod standards.
    I'm guessing any other files might be mangled in the same fashion, and that this is the cause for the warnings.
    My next step, barring any better suggestions, will be to salvage descr_strat.txt, the maps and image files, the names files, and insert them into a fresh copy of DLV6.2 and start again, WITHOUT using Geomod at all.
    Any help here is welcome.

    I know i'll get flamed for this, but here goes.
    The current DLV map when compared to the other major mods is hideous. The aztecs are a waste of a faction, and historically and in gameplay, the americas weren't an important region till the very end of a campaign. Repman, DLV is your mod and a masterpiece, but the map is crude and outdated. I know im comparing apples to oranges, but SS 6.3 campaign map is far superior. I feel that abandoning the current map in favor of something similar would greatly increase support and interest of DLV.

    agreed, I also find the americas useless and of no interest.

    I simply feel that this game can't deliver a respectful treatment of what that clash of cultures was truly about, or how they fought, or the majesty of the continents. M2TW treats Americas just as Europe perceived them; some other exotic place full of funny dressed people to kill.
    So I'm not satisfied with an apology of a map, showing the Americas at 1/4 true size, or dealing with native parallels to European agents, or watching native warriors fight in European styled ranks, or watch an entire continent historically steeped in dozens of independent nations and unions, be summed up to one territory with a village off in one corner.

    Nope.

    Hey EA; Hire a Native American or two huh?

    I'd rather just receive a gambling/investment event script whenever an explorer seeks financing with promises of gold for my nations coffers. Lets not kid ourselves thats the ONLY thing Europe's kings were thinking at that time.

    I checked SS out and was left feeling cold with the SS map. Aesthetics feels better on Repman's work for me.

    Really? Are you installed it correctly? The basic graphics for it are much superior, just the work in elevations alone is amazing.

    That will be all I will say on that topic, I really feel dropping the old map would move this amazing mod forward quite a bit.

    ive played stainless steel and sicilian vespers and kingdoms grand campign and i think this map is honestly the most inviting i really hate how some maps are so small meaning most battle will be seiges due to the small space between cities. I like the current map a lot and i love how there are major rivers so boats and travel up them but i do agree that the americas is a waste of time and historically correct. Also, last time i checked florida wasnt at the same latitude at England. Just my two cents

    Maybe a resupply and rescue team might be gathered to raise Harry's fine EUROPA DLV mod where he left off and incorporate the new 6.2 material? Thou' it is a mighty task! Another option is to assit some of the sub-mods where they've turned the Aztecs into strong variant rebels allowing for an extra European faction.

    Up until this point the job didn't seem so hard for me.
    I just suddenly get no more errors in my log to pursue.

    And in some ways I was assisting in a sub-mod; TarronQuinn's Aragon material, only with the Americas entirely removed from the map.
