I cant install medieval 2 gold edition

hey peeps need some help.
I just got my first and only ever copy of medieval 2 gold edition delivered today from amazon.
Upon several tries to install(expansions included) it finally installed disc 1. whereby it asked me to install disc 2, but when i tried to eject disc 1 it told me that disc was in use and that unsaved data would be lost. It left me, after some 15mins tring to figure out what went wrong, with no option but to cancel the install.
I now have the Medieval total war game to play but none of the expansions.
When inserting disc 1 i only get option to play original game or to install again.....
and when i insert disc 2 i get nothing, even when i click my dvd-drive manually it says no disc?
Some help would be nice as this has got beyond a joke, ive been at it for 3+hrs now and have never encountered issuses like this before

Can you read the contents of disc2 in Computer?

no, its says no disc. ive checked it for scratches etc, but as its new its in perfect condition

Can you try it in another drive or another machine?

yes, tried it in my sons laptop, and it detects it there.

How new is your dvd-rom? Have you tried updating ite firmware?

i have the same problem. i just got m2tw gold edition w/ kingdoms but it wont read. after searching the web this person figured a way to install m2tw but i cudnt figure out how to install the expansion. it says "1.03 cannot be updated to 1.03 version." what do i need to do?

What other programs do you have installed on your computer as in EA games, torrents, Alcohol 120?

im not really sure. but i just got the game. however i couldnt even install the regular m2tw. so i used this technique instead. http://www.dedoimedo.com/games/medieval_tw_2.html . It worked, but i still couldnt install kingdoms. when i try using this technique with the kingdoms disk, it says version 1.03 cannot be updated to 1.03. so i dont know where to go from here.

Vista or 7, run as administrator and UAC disabled?

I dont know. I have a friend who downloaded programs like that on my computer but im not that good with computers. so i dont know. but i did find out that i have m2tw version 1.02 installed. dont know why my computer says 1.03 cannot be updated 1.03 version if i dont have it. by the way i bought the actual case with disks. i didnt download this game or torrent it.

If your friend did and their registry entries are still there, SecuRom will flag them and make your life miserable.
Contact www.securom.com and deal with their people to see if it's their stuff first.

Hi I have discovered how being a slob can ruin lives recently when I could not be bothered to put my disc in it's box. I wanted to watch Valhalla Rising so I put the DVD in my laptop and M2G on top of the DVD box. Some how I must of got water or grease on the disc or DVD box because it stuck to it. When I pried it off I gave it a good rub but it was scratched to hell and back. It could still play but I had too many mods so I un-installed to start fresh. It turns out the scratch is effecting my install but it didn't effect my playing of the game.
My question is, I heard about installing game without the disc through opening the files on computer so it doesn't need the disc to install but im crap at computers so if anyone knows a step by step that would be great.
If that fails its a long shot but can I send me cd key to anybody like steam to get a replacement disc or download.
It's not the first game I've done this to but its the only one worth the trouble. I will fork out the money if I have to but every penny saved is a blessing.

You will need to buy a new copy of the game and a new cd-key with it.

If it's scratched, try using a little toothpaste and rub it in the scratches real good. Be sure to rub the excess off. I had to do that to my Rome disc.
