    Default RTR VII: FOE v1.4 CTD

    Hi, folks. I'm a few years into the grand campaign and the game had been running fine, but I'm stuck on my last turn because the game crashes during the AI turn phase. It happens the same way every time: An AI army advances on a settlement of mine, lays siege to it, crash. I have all the latest patches and I deleted the map file. I've looked through the FAQ and skimmed the Bugs and Issues sticky. Didn't see anything relevant.

    Any suggestions?

    Do you have show_err enabled and does it give you any error message?

    I checked the launcher and "-show_err -nm" is the current setting. I clicked save on the launcher (without changing any settings), launched the game, and now it works fine. Weird. Thanks for the help, anyway!

    This could be a generic RTW big... have you experienced it in more campaigns or is this the first time that you encounter it?

    This was the first time, although I did experience some CTD's on another mod during battles, but I uninstalled that mod some time ago.

    It gave no error when it crashed?

    Upload the save?

    Jack, the fact that it works now increases its chance of being a hardcoded bug. These will in most cases not give any error messages, and mostly restarting the game or in the worst scenario rebooting the system solves some of them.

    Others, like the ''reinforcement bug'', can't be fixed... In that case an army attacks you when you're besieging a settlement, while the enemy gets a reinforcement. When you win, and don't manage to kill all reinforcements, the game will CTD. We haven't found a solution for this one yet, so you'll have to rout and first defeat the reinforcing army.

    Hi, Maurits. That's almost exactly what happened. I was besieging Syracuse and an Autonomous Poleis army laid siege to one of my settlements in my rear area. Crash.

    Ok. Well, then we probably know the cause. CA left quite a few bugs in the vanilla game. In all these years of modding we've found cures to some of them, but due to the engine being hardcoded we might not be able to make the game completely bug-free

    Oops didnt see tat it was working now (in my defense it was before i went to bed)
