    Default Grey patches of ground outside of Settlements

    Hey does anybody know what causes this and how to remove it or how long it lasts. Never really experienced it before untill recently in my venice campaign, I took constantinople and the two fortressses close by and they all have grey patches of ground near them.

    Ive built churches and had around 4-5 vishops surrounding each settlement for several turns, Ive put spies in each settlement, Changed and removed governors but nothing seems to be happening. All 3 settlements are green and happy but are making literally no florins, One of the fortresses makes 112 florins and constantinople is making a measely 1200 while venice is making close to 8000

    devestation-occurs when armies are around the same patch of ground for too long. It will negatively affect your income by a small amount. it is supposed to go away after x amt. of turns, but thanks to something in the character aging script, devestation will not go away in SS.
    You can see how devestation affects income by hitting the settlement details scroll and looking at the income part of it-there'll be a burning house icon that represents devestation.
    make sure you don't leave armies around the same area for too long, and get rid of rebels ASAP, b/c they cause devestation a lot.

    1.) Delete the Aging script in SS6.3 (There are threads that direct you on how to do this), this will disable Characters aging, but also get rid of Devestation occurring.

    2.) (Better option) Download Meneth's 4.2 Sub-Mod Compilation, and play with 2 Turns per Year. Yes, this means that it will take twice as many turns for historical events to occur, and I honestly thought this was a poor idea. However, due to the way he has changed the unit replenishment rates, and the building times, it actually plays out rather well. Turns go by surprisingly fast, battles happen at a reasonable rate (Since troop replenishment is slower) and since buildings take longer to build settlements do not get advanced too quickly.

    This really works surprisingly well. And for clarification, yes the 2TPY sub mod DOES allow Devestation to be repaired correctly. The amount of time I spent playing each turn also seems less.

    Another option is to remove devastation in descr_campaign_db.xml. Find these variables and set them to zero:

    <fort_devastation_distance uint="0"/>
    <army_devastation_distance uint="0"/>
    <fort_devastation_modifier float="0.0"/>
    <army_devastation_modifier float="0.0"/>

    I've found that 1 year per turn (best game pace setting for me) and proper aging means more to me than devastation.

    Maybe there is another way to simulate devastation using scripts? It'd be cool to have the 3 features working together.
