Default -game balance- Yuezhi are hard to play as!

Maybe I'm just not very good at this, but it seems like the Yuezhi are very hard to play as. They start with a negative income, and their neighbouring rebel cities are well stocked with troops. I found myself doing nothing each turn for a very long time just so I could build up enough money for an army. I guess this is because its the beta release to get the bugs out, but just in case I thought I'd mention it.

I've never played the Yuezhi, so don't know if your difficulty was intended, but I will note that difficulty 'balance' is not a major concern; many factions are difficult because they were historically in a difficult situation.

A lot of factions have that sort of situation too. EB isn't trying to make expansion is easy or fast .

Yuezhi is pretty easy, concentrate your forces towards the city to your north first, which belongs to the Wu Su independants I believe. Conquer them, disband all units except maybe a couple subeshi archers and you will see 1000 income per year or more, gaurunteed.

yeah, that's exactly what I did, but my income was more like 800 per turn. The only units I bought were those archers that have no upkeep. If not for that I couldn't afford an army. Meanwhile Baktria, and Parthia had taken the rebel settlements that I was working up to attacking. I went south to the only adjacent rebel settlement but my way was blocked in the pass by a Bactrian army.

And it isn't like the AI has any bonuses over the human player.

I didn't find the Yuehzi too hard, but I didn't play them for very long. I disbanded practically all my units at the start, and then expanded slowly.

No, I'm pretty sure that their actual upkeep is zero. When I was playing my camapaign I was tight on money so I built about 12 Subeshi Archers, and I was still getting the same profit just about.

Hmm, I wonder what upkeep they were supposed to have...

*Wanders off to look at the other Yuehzi upkeeps and figure out a decent upkeep level.
