If you could add new General's speeches to the game what would you have him say? / what would you say to the soldiers if you were general yourself?
If you could add new General's speeches to the game what would you have him say? / what would you say to the soldiers if you were general yourself?
I would say to my Men
"You see those murderers they dont care about true roman ways and true roman law. They think that because there here they can beat us in this battle! But we did not march all this way to get beat did we!! SOILDERS CHEER We came here beacuse they threaten the free people of this world we came here beacause we need to show these savages how true romans fight! SOILDERS CHEER
Thats the best i could think of lol tell me what you think
What murderers?
Well obviously, since different cultures have different ways and laws. or you know, defending their homelands. Which was much of the case in Roman history. Afterall you marched into their lands.
Have to say that's a very unrefined General right there. Did we!!
Free people of the world? Romans conquer lands and make slaves of the defeated. We'll show those savages with better metal working, (guals and iberians) culture (greeks possibly), archery (everybody else) than us! Hoo Rah, go America! I meant Rome.

If he marched there first, yeah. But there were occasions where the Romans did not start the war.
This admittedly, was an appropriate response to a naive post. Free peoples of the world. No, more slaves and more land for Rome. You cannot deny their cultural achievements however. Architectural, artistic etc.Free people of the world? Romans conquer lands and make slaves of the defeated. We'll show those savages with better metal working, (guals and iberians) culture (greeks possibly), archery (everybody else) than us! Hoo Rah, go America! I meant Rome.
Roman and Greek culture were highly similar to begin with.
Anyhow, my attempt at a speech:
"Men. Romans. There is a land of open fields and light breeze. Here you can walk sunlit pastures and feel the light brush of growing wheat in your hands. And there, across that field, are the wives and children we so love, and some of them; among the dead those foul barbarians sent. Here, men, is the land of peace that has an utter lack for the blundering barbarians we so hate, and that we are now forced to do battle with. I have not been to this land men; nor do I wish it anytime soon.
But you will go there. All of you. Because I know you. I see all and cannot help but remark 'True Romans vast, and shining steel,'.... ' as bright as the fire in their hearts.' Know Romans, that we shall meet again, on this new field. But not yet. Now into battle we march... for the glory of our country. For the honor that follows our name. For home and family!

lol ok. Lets take your example. You are trying to inspire soldiers, not bore them to death. I'll keep your theme shall we?
Men! These barbarians have come to destroy our peace, take our women and pillage our lands! Will we stand here as Romans, or allow them to desecrate all we know? Nay say I! We must do as Romans. Kill them, kill them all.
There; a quickly thought up and simple rhetoric. None of this blundering about, with inconsistent prose style, flailing from sunlight pastures to love, to barbarians, to not being to this land. And then leading to "'True Romans vast, and shining steel,'.... ' as bright as the fire in their hearts.' Know Romans, that we shall meet again, on this new field. But not yet. Now into battle we march... for the glory of our country. For the honor that follows our name. For home and family!" That's just bad beyond words.
Oh and then there's my original slightly altered quote at the start of this thread. Though I see Vice is quick to say "Easy to talk the talk but can you walk it" without giving one of his own.

Dude don't take everything so seriouslyOr else this will become a flame threat as well and I'll be forced to think up a speech to make my men eager to offend people's messages in this topic
"Men! What we're facing is a challenge, a challenge which only the weakest of you won't survive. These threadbarbarians are flaming up the place we used to love! Our homeland, our members and our moderators! Are we willing to accept this devastation? Or will we fight back with all our heart and our sword! For even the weakest will survive when fighting to reconquer this place! This is more than land, this is OUR land! And we will not accept anyone who will take this from us!
Now march forward, and kill every flaming member who resists! FOR THE FORUM!"

Snake? Snake? OH MY GOD PUT THAT SNAKE AWAY!! SNAKE SNAKE SNAKE!
well, actually you can put new sounds at the descr_prebattle_speech (or somewhat),give specific lines according to character traits and prebattle conditions... but you first need to have a good voice and sound recording devices
Annokerate Koriospera Yuinete Kuliansa
and the camp women, will be , uh, very thankful,
OH YES!
This thread is rapidly becoming the "how not to write speeches" thread.

you have to hear through a soldier's ear what would you like to listen?
i personally would run away if the general told me i was going to die i mean c'mon i dont want to die i want to kill the enemies of my country so i want the battle to end so that i can go back home to my family so one good speech would be to convince the soldiers that they are not going to die,
if you read a speech imagine your about to fight for the glory of your country you might die so obviously you are nervous and you wont think logical enough to remember that it was rome who started the war(as far as i know Roma maked a lot of propaganda so the soldiers probably would think that the defence of rome brought them there instead of roman greed)
you are afraid that you are never going to see your family and when a general tells you what you want to listen you are going to believe it you are going to believe that you are going to see your family that you will look into the sky in the morning and you are going to see that you are alive and that your life will go on and that all you have to do is kill some repulsive men who want to kill you and that want to take your wife and make your sons theirs,
unfortunately i couldn't put what i just said into a speech but i believe that if turned into a speech than it would for sure help the soldiers from stop shaking and the last part would give the soldier a reason to hate the enemy helping him focus on what he's here to do.
MEN....these people are all rasict against melons! The melons afterall have always been neglected.....But now today we gain equality!we gain freedom!WE ARE NO LONGER HARVESTED AS FOOD!
Today melons we may fall but it it for MELONKIND!!!!!!
*soilders chant* ALL HAIL THE MELON RACE!!!!!!
'some of us... may soon lie dead...'
*soldiers look about nervously*
'but better still to, hey, men, where are you going!??! There's enough wine in camp to sink a boat and the camp women!?! COME BAAAACK'
Fear is man's worst enemy, but for them we are the worst enemy! As we strike fear in to our enemies heart as soon as they see us confident and eager to crush them!
or just simply
I'll say no useless speaches. KILL THEM!
Wipe them out.
All of them
