    Default cease_hostilities / excommunication

    Quick Q:
    how is it possible for an AI faction to get excommunicated when it hasn't got a cease_hostilities mission?

    Situation - this is from SS6.3 + Rozmod + bits and pieces game.
    data from the LTGD trace (zipped version appended)

    T24 Scotland and England AtWar - Scotland has cease_hostilities 1 England has cease_hostilities 0
    T25 Scotland and England AtWar - Scotland has cease_hostilities 1 England has cease_hostilities 0
    T26 England has excommunicated 1

    It's possible, but given your conditions unlikely. An assassin caught in a mission against the papal_states, or a spy if the factions relations are low to start with. Papal army caught in an accidental ambush or a naval battle between the papal and an ally of england, were england gets dragged in as a consequence of being allied. Most of the factors will be in descr_faction_standings.

    Thx for that Eothese.

    was an all AI faction campaign (hotseat). Too early in game for assassins, papal involvement etc.

    Looks like scotland attacked england, took York and the english tried to recapture it and got clobbered by the pope with a red card for their first foul tackle.

    we may need to adjust the descr_faction standings penalties for failing missions (but if there is no mission in the first place?)

    either way it seems there's not much we can do in campaign_ai_db.xml to influence this if the AI decided what to on the basis of no cease_hostilities and then something pops up afterwards?

    (but can the pope issue a cease_hostilities mission on another faction's turn?)
