    Default Sound Problem Americas

Hello, I was recently switching around descr_strat settings to be able to play england and france in the americas campaign.I was able to do it with some text I found in the download section. It worked fine but then I just wanted to have the original settings back so I went back and undid what I had inputed. But then when I started the game up there was no sound in the main menu or campaign or anything else except for the movie clips and the main introduction.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both the main medieval 2 total war program and the americas campaign to see if it would solve the issue but it doesn't.Even with all the original text in place the sound won't work.

Note that the sound works fine for the original campaign and every other except the americas campaign.I've been struggling with this for hours now and It's getting quite frustrating.Any help would be appreciated.

Just a shot in the dark. Delete the medieval2.preferences,cfg and then try it.

What OS are you running on? When you uninstalled the Kingdoms campaigns did you completely delete any folder that remained after the uninstall or did you leave the folders as they were?

I'm on a windows 7. I deleted the Americas campaign and then deleted any folders that were left over, should I try deleting them all first then uninstalling?

No. Don't delete the folders first - bad idea.

Did you delete the folders in the AppData Folder as well?

I'm not sure which folders those are, but I think anything in the americas campaign folder was deleted.

If you have not disabled the UAC, please do so. Life will be easier.
Yes, uninstall everything starting with the Kingdoms campaign, delete Sega folder in Programs (Programs (x86) maybe) and the one in %appdata% after you unhide all hidden files and folders in folder options, run a registry cleaner, reboot, and then try reinstalling everyting. CA's uninstaller does absolutely no cleaning up after itself.

Take it all and start fresh. It's the best way.

Thanks for your help man I really appreciate it, but in the end it didn't work. I deleted all the things you told me except the appdata because I couldn't find M2TW on there. Then I reinstalled the game and the americas campaign but the game won't give me sound.Maybe some day I'll figure it out.

I Have the Gold Edition by the way so the kingdom campaigns are all seperate I don't know if that's how it is on the normal kingdoms disc. Also one thing that I find strange is how when I deleted as much as the game as I could my saved games where still there when I reinstalled it.I have no Idea were those could have been hiding.

It's all the same way in the original because I own it.

You can contact Sega support about it and see if you can con them out of a copy the sound works on. It can be a bad disc, too.
