Here's a small guide for changing yourself the file. I've originally tested it with triarii because I didn't reach the hamata legions yet and this should work for any unit in the game.
If you compare a unit in the original submod export_descr_unit.txt(blue) with one in the 2.6(red) one you'll get this:
Code:
type legio i germanica
dictionary legio_i_germanica
category infantry

voice_type Medium_1

If you compare the two lines you'll see only 2 differences and those two numbers dictate the distance between troops when issuing a loose formation command. When you have lower numbers the units get closer instead of dispersing and thus mimicking a shield wall. At least that's what I gathered.
Now, to only change the cohorts open the 2.6 file (after backing it up, of course) with Notepad or any other text editor and go to the replace command and in the first text box paste
Code:
1, 1.66, 2, 3.33, 5, square, testudo
Then in the second text box paste this
Code:
1, 1.66, 0.6, 1, 5, square, testudo
Now, if you keep pressing replace you should change all legions (polybian included) and triarii(who already have a separate shield wall ability). You may not want to do that. You just have to check the type line and make sure you replace it only if it is a numbered or praetorian legion. Manually check to make sure all legions have a modified formation line.
You could, of course, do everything manually with a text editor.
And for the lazy or not so technically inclined here's a download link: http://www.mediafire.com/view/o7attm...descr_unit.txt
You still need to install the original mod then overwrite with this file. That's only to get the new icon.
