Help with starting RTR

anyways, for some reason i can't get into RTR. there isn't a shortcut or anything that will allow me to play it. i download it yesterday, and it was working fine. When i started my computer today, it said the RTR was moved, and the shortcut was useless.

What do i do??

Well, to help us helping you it would be nice if you could give some more details

Which version of RTR did you download? What are your RTW and BI patched up to? And of course which version of windows are you using?

When you give us these details I'm sure that we'll get it up and running

i've downloaded the latest version, FOE empires 1.6

i got patch 1.6, as of which they told me to download. RTW and BI are clean, haven't really used them

and i got Windows xp

anyways, yeah, there is no shortcut on my desktop anymore sense my computer deleted it, saying the files have been moved, paraphrasing there.

Well first you should check the .exe path to make sure it is going to the right place, then make sure that RTW is still in the correct place. Let us know which of these things it is and we can guide you to retarget the shortcut to the correct place

i'm at the RTW folder, how can i tell what the .exe path is? and how do i tell if RTW is in the correct place, you mean like in creative assembly? it is there if that is what you are asking.

Well, for instance my .exe has this goal:

"C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-BI.exe" -mod:FOE -show_err -nm

You could try to find out how yours looks and maybe alter it. That might solve the problem.

FoE has a launcher to start the mod. If you go to your main RTW install (where you installed FoE to), then there should be a folder called "launcher" inside it. Then find the "Rome Total Realism VII.exe" and create a shortcut to it on your desktop. If you use that, then you won't have to change anything like Maurits did... Just run the launcher like you would do with any other program and press the "Play RTR VII: FoE" button

Btw, I assume you did the following:
1. Installed RTW & BI
2. Installed the BI 1.6 patch
3. Installed RTR VII: FoE
4. Installed RTR VII: FoE patch 1.4
Right?
