    Default Rome Total War II

I have heard a few rumors flying around that they are making a new Rome Total War. I don't know if this is true but if it is what changes would you like to see in the game?

For me I would like the ability to upgrade barbairn factions beyond what they were in reality, but the only way to do this is by capturing a city from a more advance faction and holding it for a certain amount of turns. That would have been more realistic because one way people have advance their own civilisation is by stealing things from others.

Also I didn't like some of the units to the factions, like how the Gauls had the best archers in the game while the Earsten factions only got standard, or how the Thracen's got awful calvary while in reality they were known for being good horseback riders.

And the final thing I would change would be the chariots. In the game chariots are used for charging through enemy ranks, but more often they were about moving men around the battle feild, that would be increadbly useful in battle.

Before you say anything I know I can mod the game but this isn't about that. This is about what do you want to see if they make another Rome Total War.

A much BIGGER map i know that the game will/is about Rome and where it reached but if it would go from full britannia to india it would be much more interesting.

More realism but not to the point where fun and gameplay is sacrificed.

An AOR where you would be able to recruit local troops including ships(so that the barbarians dont get owned at sea in the late game)

Rome should be unified with the Senate still in power on Rome the roman civil war should be simulated so that when it cames certain provinces turn to the senate side and others to the Player side also after the empire is stablished the roman faction should be called roman empire the roman leader should have the title of emperor etc...

Armies being able to march much more than before or at least a 4 tpy or even more implemented.

    Better AI

    More historical battles.

More depth to all factions specially the romans since the game is based on them.

The Romans should still become a Super Power but with much more difficulties than the original, the player shouldn't find challenges only in the civil war.

An earlier starting period(300-280 BC) and a later ending one(80-100 AD) would be much more interesting.

Make the Marius reforms appear much later instead of appearing on the first or 2 decade of the game.

Many more like more factions, better balance, make battles last longer etc...

Personaly I like having the four Roman factions, it gives the game a little more depth in the story.

If you want the game to cover a larger geographical expanse and improve realism, then making the map larger is not a logical solution. Having one large map forces you to synchronize areas and periods of widely different levels of historical interest and, for this particular era, different levels of available historical knowledge. And this synchronisation means loss of detail where it is available and loads of conjecture where it isn't.

As shokh said, more playing styles. It would be nice to have a selection of faction types with a certain strength which would make it hard for other players who are not used to playing as a certain faction to learn.

    Real Legions like Roma surrrectum.

Sieges-Now this is something which i reckon will have to change. I'm sick of attacking a town and seing the exact same set up every time
I think they could change some of this by 'zooming' out a bit more and instead of having the attacking army start 100meters from the town walls maybee have them a kilometer or 2 away from the city itself with the farms and houses outside of the city. So instead of starting off at the walls you can fight the defenders just outside the city in the near countryside or fight them in the outer parts of the city or fight them in the walled up part of the city. basically having 5 zones which you can fall back to. Civilians running around the city either runningfor their lives or picking up rocks, bricks, tools and attaking the attackers. Obviously you dont have control over the civilians though so they can either e useful or a nuisance for the defenders. You never see civilians in tw games during seiges and i think they can add to emersion.

Ading to civilians i would like the common people to play a role. After all this is total war and the common people are part of the war effort. I would like to be able to see a seige where the defenders don't have a good reputation among the people and instead of the people trying to defend their town they let the attacks in and attack the defenders instead. Instead of having a red face on the campaign map, actually show a riot in progress in real time and allow the player to actually take action which will become a whole new type of battle in itself.

I would love to have to fight a riot or fight as the riot. You could send in your spies and they would do their best to get a revolt going against the rulling faction and then you lead those people to victory.

And for god's sake, please add real-time naval battles. Once you have played ETW, it's annoying to go back to autocal naval battles.

No naval battles! Those were awfole to fight, took to much time and were to hard to command.

No the Celts used their chariots ether to move solders around or as platforms to throw spears. The persians used the chariots to smash through enemy ranks.
