Steam not found

Hey I downloaded the mod and installed it all correctly with a clean un modded install of RTW 1.5 and when I try to start up the mod I get an error message pop up that says "steam not found". When I click ok it brings me to the steampowered home page.

Had this same problem with a mod I had before, installed it by running as administrator and enabling windows xp mode on the .exe, doesn't appear to be working for this particular mod.

I'm running windows 7 64 bit with RTW on Steam.

Are you running Rome from Steam (ie from the steam window or right-clicking on the steam icon) or do you have an independent icon on your desktop?

Also, 64 bit Operating systems seem to be causing a lot of problems. That could be coincidental, but the last three "can't run" threads have been 64 bit 7, 64 bit vista, and now your 64 bit 7 respectively.

I'm also running Win 7 64bit and I'm having the exact same problem. It's really frustrating as I just bought RTW Gold on steam and was looking forward to getting back into it after years. I know I've seen people on here that play it on steam with the SPQR mod and I would love to be doing the same. I would really appreciate some help with this, thanks in advance.

While I am just beginning to use Windows 7 meself, here is an advice for you lot. Run dual OS ,7s and Xp and enjoy the game

I solved it by installing off the original RTW cds I had and making sure it installed to 'C:\Activision\Rome-Total War' instead of installing to 'C:\program files\Activision\Rome-Total War'. I have SPQR mod running great. But with a lot of people buying games on steam it would be good to be able to use it for mods. It would be awesome if you could install the mods straight from steam but that's up the steam I guess.

I was thinking of dual booting but said I'd try the cds first, thanks for the reply.

Go on steam then libraries and play te game from there instead of using the shortcut then it should work
