So you have this folder: ...\data\ui\unit_info
but not this one?: ...\data\ui\units
Try using this unpacking method.
Hi, I've managed to unpack americas but there's no text folder. Is there a path to type in that will specifically get me the text folder?
Thanks
Did you check out the two links I posted in your other thread, the one specifically about the virtual store?
Yes, thanks, but I've managed to figure it out now
Thank you so much for your help
Does this work with Empire Total War as of now?
No. Totally different format.
Guys, this is great and everything, but once I have modded the files they do not take effect.
Let me take you through what I am trying to do.
I am trying to mod the names in the game from the "descr_names" file. Now, in Rome 1, there is no unpacking, so modding the names file takes immediate effect, but in medieval 2, modding it takes no effect. I presume this is because the game takes priority over the pack files and not the unpacked ones (as I think I read somewhere that the pack files make the game run faster) which is understandable.
So here is my question. Can I so-called "re-pack" the pack file or can I make the files the priority and not the pack files?
Thanks for the help.
You're right, when modding the vanilla game you need to add [io] file_first = true to the medieval2.preferences.cfg file, and probably have to make it read-only or else the game will overwrite it.
