Problem with EB1.1 download.

Hi there, first let me say thank you for the wonderful mod you've worked so hard to create. I've played EB since 2008 and haven't made an account on any forums till now.
I uninstalled it a few months ago and tried to re-download it recently, but after it finished downloading, whenever I tried to open (or even so much as right-click on it) my computer freezes and windows explorer ends up crashing. On top of that, my HD space keeps depleting, which I found is because every time I so much as touch the file it starts writing files to my Windows/Temp folder which takes up to 15GB of space.

I tried deleting it but it didn't work because it just kept freezing and crashing explorer, so I decided to leave it alone and download it again, this time as a torrent (the first time was file-front) No luck, it just does the same thing. I downloaded EB1.2 from the torrent and it seemed to work fine.

I've looked around the forums for similar problems but only found one or two threads, and they were both running vista, I'm using XP.

I'm not even sure it's a specifically EB issue or if my computer is to blame, but any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, and I'll be patiently awaiting EBII! I'd even join the team if it would speed up the process any!

I am having the same problem with the EB1.1 download.
The only way I could delete the file without crashing explorer was to do it via the DOS Console SafeMode.
Before deleting the file I had to remove the hidden and archive attributes.
I am using Win7

As Andy5 said, delete it using the safe-mode. Afterwards empty your temp-folder.
Sounds to me as you are using a protection-software, disable it during the installation progress. Also start the installer with Admin-rights if your account doesn't have them.

refer to http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=215361. should check to see if its your microsfot security essentials hanging it up. it was for me, i temporarily disabled it and. bingo i was good to go. through the task manager i could see it was taking 95% of my cpu cycles after attempting to open eb1.1 .
