    Default what's your 45?

yesterday I finish my first campain in VH/VH and surprisingly I won long before america was discovered

    the victory was like this:
I was holding already 44 regions, and at war with many factions.
the newest enemy was Spain who took Ajaccio from me few turns before.
so, I gather and army from Genoa and set sail to take Ajaccio which was bad defended.
but in the way Antioque rioted.
so, I was again with 43 regions.
next turn I took Ajaccio and 2 turns later an army from Adana took Antioche and I won the game...

which made me think, before Venice I played Bizantines and the victory region was also antioche
do you aim for a special city when fighting for the 45th region?
do you long for a special place to hold and close with golden letters?
or you just dont care as long as you get the 45th region and achieve victory?

Depending on what faction I am playing, the 45th region is likely to be the special named target, since its otherwise well out of the way of logical expansion. England and the other western Europe factions that need Jerusalem are a clear case in point here. With HRE I would take Rome last because otherwise you are just giving yourself a handicap of permanent crusades coming at you.

    I don't actually care

Cool to take the last region on a crusade though

When I won as the byzzies my 45th region was...Constantinople!!!

I got careless and a mongol Jihad army sailed right in and blew down the wall with their great bombard. Took it back 2 turns later, taking Valencia right before, giving me 45.

As the Turks it was either Milan or Rome.

As the Byzantines, it was Rome.

No I've never cared which reason it is. Actually, I usually am surprised when I "win" the game. Mostly when I play now I have objectives of my own that I want to acheive, like "take so-and-so regions and eliminate Spain" or somesuch thing to that affect.
Normally when I hit that 45th region I'm like "oh look a little video" and I keep playing till I hit my objectives.
Or sometimes I never reach forty-five because what I wanted to do doesn't involve it.
For example in one game my objective was to unite Italy under Milan, get the papacy in my pocket, and control the Mediterranean. I did this all and had no where near 45 regions but it satisfied what I wanted to do so I stopped.
I usually find my sensible objectives more satisfying than the in-game arbitrary objective of controlling 45 regions.
