Changing the Mod's data
I just don't understand, I changed some of the datas but it wasn't changed in the game.
For example, I changed the names of the units to their native language. Like Macedonian Hetairoi, not Macedonian Companion Cavalry. I played with the export_unit file. But I didn't see the changes in the game, did I make my changes incomplete?
In the same time, I changed the pictures of generals and it wasn't seen in the game too..

Re: Changing the Mod's data
Yeah, I had the same problem trying to remove the officers to make the phalanxes less penetrable.
I think it's either something to do with Windows 7 privileges or it's the dev's master plan to prevent lesser mortals like us to temper with their baby ^_^

I may be mistaken but for certain campaigns you have to edit the files inside of Play_YourFaction and not just data/IMPORTANTSTUFF

Re: Changing the Mod's data
Windows Vista and 7 could cause issues there, and may not be 'saving' the file in the right place. Also, 'export_units.txt' is a 'Read-Only' file...so make sure you change that attribute so that you can edit it, and then change it back to read-only. The file is write protected because the game has a bad habit of writing garbage to the file if you have a crash. There is also an export_units.txt file in both the 'data\text' folder (the main RTW data directory, and in the Roman campaign modfolder. They were different at one time, but are now the same (in the Patch). They cannot be mixed up in the current released version.
You may have to delete map.rwm to see the changes if you are in a running campaign...I'm not sure. Try it and see if that works.
Changing the pictures of Generals is a whole new ballgame. The 'portrait' pictures are in a pack file. So any changes to the 'root' UI folder (the one in the main RTW data\UI folder) will not show up. But they may show up if you put them in whichever respective modfolder you are trying to change. For example, if it's the Play_Macedon modfolder, put them in a UI folder in there.

Re: Changing the Mod's data
I have a new problem, I have made some changes with the faction's names. For example, Pergamon to Attalid Dynasty or Dacia to Getae.
I used this folders to change: campaign_descriptions, expanded, expanded_bi, shared, strat..
But when I opened the game, I was quitted. How can it be?

expanded_bi... It's the most important file to change the names.. I haven't Barbarian Invasion, can it be the problem?

Re: Changing the Mod's data
Did you change anything inside the {} brackets? Also, 'expanded.txt' is no longer used.

No I didn't change it, maybe problem can be caused from descr_names. I erased some of the names.. I will try it.
