    Default Chief of the Dunedain

K, one of the things the ability Chief of the Dunedain does is increase the army fatigue. Why? What's the point in tiring your own army? :o can someone please explain why is this so? I mean, Aragorn had healing powers so this really makes no sense to me... Thanks.

Increasing fatigue means that they don't get tired so fast
So they will fight better for longer than normal

Shouldn't it be increase stamina and/or decrease fatigue?

Yes, it is either not worded properly - or your initial statement is correct, that the ability comes with a negative side effect, because that does not make grammatical sense in English.

What you say is strange, for when I use it, all of the army becomes 'winded' and it was on 'fresh' at the moment i pressed the ability. ofc, battle had just started, and i did this several times. And i thought fatigue was defined as being tired xD

you are correct - it does add fatigue, so better to fire it off before going into melee

Yeah, I think this is a bug and should be put in that thread. Why on earth would the special ability hurt your own army? It should either make them go from fatigued to fresh, or impact the enemies fatigue negatively.

if the stamina is depleted fully but morale, speed and fighting ability go up then it allows the army to maintain it's effectiveness
The Duke of Dunwich and surrounding fiefdom

For any who are interested by my FF on occurrences in Rhun and beyond; I have begun a new project (not because the old one is finished, just opening more room for ideas) about one of the minor characters, Rankal. It is in the Third Age AAR index and here is the link http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=376994

Fatigue reduces attack, defence (and morale) so that reduces the combat factor. The difference in combat factor is used to calculate kill chance, so I think the combined bonus is miniscule.

morale and speed are not effected, just the kill chance

    Haha thanks Aragion, np Herio!

Now about the problem, I still think it makes no sense because why not just decrease fatigue for a short period of time? I mean: Increase combat effectiveness + (-Increase fatigue)=0? like 2-2= 0? xD
sry for math, it's just that the other abilities like elven stuff and Heart of a Lion make sense, this doesn't . unless ofc, there is some slight bonus which can be ignored where combat eff would be higher than fatigue increase. and speed is increased, my Grey company on winded was slow as breeland militia on fresh when using the ability... Cheers D

Fatigue is only being decreased for a short time - if you hit the hero ability when your troops are "fresh", then they will become "tired", but they will recoup in less than a minute. I'm not an expert in this, but I believe that Kill Chance is derived from the combined attack/defense stats from both parties and includes all the modifiers e.g. flank/rear attack, charge etc. - so when it's all added up then the Kill Chance makes a big difference since it's permanent. It also makes sense - fighting harder makes you more tired

I haven't been able to find documentation for the exact numbers, so I hope an expert can add to this
