I was planning to upgrade the RAM and change the graphics card if you can always change it.

    PS Without spending much.

    Let me know your advice!

    Thanks!

That processor is fine for this game so you can't really upgrade there. Add another 2 GB of RAM and upgrade the GPU to something like a Radeon HD 5450 as they're very inexpensive these days.

    To Technical Help
Yep PoleCat is right you should upgrade your RAM and GPU as suggested.
I noticed you have a 533Mhz of RAM so buying a 667 or 800Mhz RAM will help(have to remove the old one completely though).

    Thanks for the replies!

I hope my Packard Bell PC allows you to change the graphics card.

I thought I add 2 or 3 GB of DDR2 667 Mhz RAM and changing the graphics card with an Nvidia Geoforce GT 220 1GB DDR2 PCI- E.

    What companies?

Could you give us the model number of your Packard Bell PC? It would help us to give you better information. Thanks!

If you can afford a GTX 250 then that's a good card. Be aware that card is more than this game was ever designed for. Make sure you have the right drivers for that card and the right DirectX codec for this game. Good luck!

The 220 is strictly for office work. It will not play this game. Get an old 9800GT like mine and you're in business or its new clock version GTX250 512mb.

Ok, if I buy the Geoforce Nvidia 9800GT or GTX 250 512Mb DDR2 PCI-E Medieval 2 slow motion even though I do not have units with huge battles beyond the 5000 or 6000 soldiers?

Graphics cards here are well above 512Mb or better 1GB?

Depends if having a bigger screen then buy 1GB version if having a smaller screen that is native resolution is like 1024x768, 1280x1024 etc then buy 512MB one.

    My card I listed plays huge battles on 1280 x 1024 screen. It's a 19" screen.

    My monitor is a Acer 19 ".

    Characteristics of the monitor:

    Schermo
Nome Acer AL1951 di NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GS
    Risoluzione Corrente 1280x1024 pixel
    Risoluzione Operativa 1280x994 pixel
Stato attivato, primario, supporto periferiche di output
    Larghezza Schermo 1280
    Altezza Schermo 1024
Bpp Schermo 32 bit per pixel
    Frequenza Schermo 60 Hz
    Periferica \\.\DISPLAY1\Monitor0

For my PC Packard Bell and monitors Acer 19 "that card do you recommend to play with and other Medieval 2 total war with huge units and with battles about 5,000 or 6,000 soldiers?

    For Irishron

What characteristics has your PC? You have a graphics card Nvidia Geoforce 9800 GTX 512 MB DDR2 PCI-E?

Up to how many soldiers in field you've played at the battles of campaign?

    It is a XFX GeForce 9800GT 512mb pcie x 16.

It's been some time since I fought a battle but I fought one about that size on a wooden castle. Everything used was before gunpowder, though. I fought in a fortress with default unit size and no slow down.

I normally don't fight battles unless it's a unit thing I am testing just for time constraints. I usually auto-resolve and go on.

Unfortunately I was unable to find the specs for that system on Packard Bells website. It doesn't seem to be a system that is currently being sold. How old is that system? It can't be more than a few years old....

As long as you have an open PCI 2.0 slot you should be able to add a new GPU. Looking at comparable models in the UK market it looks like it's using an integrated GPU but it's difficult to tell from here.

I can't say for certain about any problems with their BIOS though as I haven't played with one for many years. From a look at their website it doesn't look like they sell in the US anymore - just EU, Asia and Mid East.

    Good luck!

How old is a Pentium D? If it only as a AGP slot, you maybe seriously out of luck.

    My Packard Bell is 2006.

From a photo of the back of your PC you can understand something?

In fact, let me know if I don't have an integrated graphics.

The RAM can I increase because I have 3 free slots.

You definitely have three extra RAM slots - your earlier post proved that. I'm more concerned with how many PCI expansion slots you have.

If you could take a picture of the back of your system - or even the inside - it would help. But it would also be a pain in the butt and you should only do it if your really want to.

You should be fine with that GTX 250. When you go to place it in the machine if you find another video card there then just take the old one out and add the new card.

Remember that when you add the memory that all of them should be the same type and speed.

    Good luck!

Almost five years old. Do you still have the manual that came with it? If so, is there a picture of the motherboard you could attatch?

What size power supply do you have?
