    Taro’s New Units for Gondor Project

    V 2.0 for CLEAN Third Age 2.1


    If you wish to use my mod then please PM me on TWC forums, I just want to know what is happening with my work and maybe you will improve it in some way.
    If you fail to comply, you will be dealt with in the most severe manner possible, most probably involving chicken feathers, cod liver oil and a very, very depraved walrus.

    NOTE: If I wont give sign of life for month or so, then you can consider me MIA and you are free to use my work as you see fit.


    My goal here was to add new units to Gondor rooster as I felt it was just too small. I was allowed by Wlesmana to use his unit ideas and descriptions, then it just kept growing.
    In this mod you will find:

    • Over 20! New units for Gondor ONLY
    • Over 60! NEW models
    • New horses for Gondor
    • Regional bodyguard units using same models as some of the vanilla TA or mine models
    • New battle model for Boromir along with nicer portrait
    • Completely new Bodyguard Unit exclusively for Boromir (yup I like him)
    • New mercenary units for Gondor
    • Reworked starting armies for Gondor: starting generals use regional bodyguard unit, armies were changed to use regional units
    • New named generals with biographies (currently only 3 have unique models, but rest will be added)
    • Completely replaced vanilla units using gondorian plate armor, such as: archers, spearmen, infantry, cavalry, citadel guar, fountain guard
    • Completely new battle models for Family Member and Captain
    • Brand new models for standard gondorian troops (archers, spearmen, infantry), now they start with heavy mail armor as described in books, then you can upgrade them with armors seen in films
    • Completely reworked Rangers of Ithilien

    Taro, thank you for your time and effort to make this mod.
    I have downloaded it and installed, but it's not working. As I have Baron Samedi's compilation I thought it could be the cause. But I have it also uninstalled, backed it up and your mod installed again. Still not working.
    What happens is that it fires up until the "3rd age total war 2.1" message (with black backround) and then jumps to the desktop. I use steam by the way.
    I really hope you succeed adressing the issues for this excellent job you have done.

    I found the error. Simple misplace of an attribute.

    Lines 2121 and 2122 in EDU:

    attributes sea_faring, hide_forest, can_withdraw, can_formed_charge, knight, hardy, command
    formation 2, 4.4, 3, 6, 2, square, wedge, no_custom
    change to:

    I really love the unupgraded Squires. Every centimeter on them is worth bo be in Vanilla 2.2

    Unfortunately the upgraded Squires do not seem to be Squires anymore, they compete with Swan Knights.

    BTW: Of you want to fix this yourself search export_descr_unit.txt for "pinnath_gelin_bodyguard" and you find unit that causes problem. Then do what Shushoni said. Reupload will work without problem!

    Unfortunately the upgraded Squires do not seem to be Squires anymore, they compete with Swan Knights.
    Im planning to remake Swan Knights to make them look more awesome. However look at their differences, Squires only have light lances and their horses arent armored like ones that Swan Knights have. Besides, check descriptions to see why they get such fancy stuff .

    You should be complaining that vanilla Swan Knights dosent look awesome enough .
