Default Old factions re-emerge from former capital if the region goes rebel...

    Faction re-emerging?

To spice up the long term game as you get into the 1350-1400s... Should a large empire loose grip on an old dead enemy former capital and that territory rebel - might the former power re-emerge in it's homeland like in the ol' classic MTW?

I'd be delighted to make a series of events for each faction should anyone crafty coder wish to script this exciting game mechanic - long missed from the classic game.

    Just a thought...

I really like your idea Tokus.

So you say that to "any" faction (you or computer) that conquered another one, if at some point the province goes rebel this script would automatically re-emerge the old faction?
I believe this could be great, can this be done?

I like that, but I hope I don't have to test it...

    ~Wille
Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

    La Bestia Von Garlet,

Yes, if only the old capital goes rebel (for a turn or two) the old faction may reemerge. In TATW's expanded middle Earth game 'Divide and Conquer' there was discussion with Archaon about this. It is clearly a game mechanic that'll spice up long term games when a huge empire looses control.

    Wille,

Heh - I took the wee island over to the right (off the screen) - a fortress. Am using it for hit and run marine attacks from the sea; seizing a settlement from the Liths and gifting it to one of their enemies or the Papalcy for brownie points (I'm now back in the fold after being excommunicated for many years). We're all good pals now. I've got a tough core army led by my Prince and a back up horse army of varied cav' that I use as a flanking army when desending upon heavy Lith stacks. But I have to pick my moment or they swamp me!

For some reason, I experienced TWO resurgence in my previous DLV game.

My force and my ally, the Georgia was pushing on the Mongol, and my assassin finally put down the Khan, thus the last family member. Mongol Uls was over.
Then they invaded with 4 full armies, they came back from death.

The second one was Spain (Castille and Leon). The Portuguese was pressing the Spanish, as well as myself. My assassins also put down all the remaining Spanish Royalties. Then Castille and Leon was over (I saw their settlements turned into gray rebels). Then for some unknown reasons, they were alive AGAIN.

Any time a faction's last settlement is taken, 2 armies are spawned, usually one led by the faction leader and the other by the heir. They will then wonder the map until they are eliminated and/or find a new settlement. For example, in my game, Poland was defeated by the Teutonic Order and eventually took over Venice from Byzantium (who had already eliminated Venice earlier in the game).
