Default AI control over own stacks in battles - hardcoded or possible to mod?

Since Empire's release I've been wondering why you can't give the AI control over additional stacks of your own faction in battles. Instead they just stupidly appear whenever your maximum number of units in the field hasn't been reached. Unfortunately I haven't found any mods that address this issue and I suppose it's hard-coded anyway. Still:

Is it somehow possible to mod the game in that way that, in a battle, all additional stacks of your own faction are treated as stacks of an allied faction? For those do appear on the battlefield right away...

Thanks for any help in advance...

I would like to help, but i don't understand what you are asking for ( English isn't my native language.. ).

You mean "stacks" --> like those deployed by light infantry unit, etc ( anti cavalry "obstacles" and trenches )?

Those "things" are on your disposal when your army is "still" at least one turn on Campaign Map.

If i misunderstood, please correct me.

Thanks for your reply, Jakub. Do I assume correctly that you are Polish (because of your name and banner)? So maybe you speak German better than English? That would help... , but I'll try again in English first...

What I mean is the following:

Let's say in a battle you have 2 or more full armies (= "stacks"). In Rome and Medieval 2 you could tell the computer to play your additional armies. In Empire (and Napoleon) that is not possible. Only additional armies of your allies are on the battlefield from the beginning.

    My question:

Can you mod the game so that your additional armies count as allied additional armies? Theoretically, this would mean that they can start the battle from the beginning - if the code allows for that...

I hope this is formulated a little easier... [I could try French, too, but that would probably be a bad idea, for it's been a while since school and that visit to Paris... ]

Heh, now i understand your question.

So, you want to give the AI the control of your additional army in Grand Campaign in ETW?

Maybe you will need to edit some *.lua files or *.luac inside ui.pack?

Modding BAI and CAI aren't easy as you see.

And yes i 'm a Pole ( but i don't know hundreds of English idioms or strange words like "stack" ).

I could speak and write in original English in general .

You could try German too, but not French .

Look for *.lua/*.luac decompiler on TWCenter ( most AI behavior all controlled from those two file types and from startpos.esf ).

I hope this helped a bit.

Thanks, Jakub! I'll check that out - even though I doubt my little modding knowledge will grant me a breakthrough...

Don't worry there are plenty of tutorials about modding:

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=234288 ( tutorial index --> a bit old )

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=1108 ( updated thread )

I would like to help, but i have a "small knowledge" about modding AI in Empire: Total War.

First of all i recommend to stick closer to one of the tutorials on TWCenter ( it isn't a shame, everyone started modding from tutorials --> me to ).
