    Default Pikes

    Please excuse me if another thread like this exists, but I was wondering if this mod fixes pikes. In vanilla I have noticed (especially with the Scots) that when in melee pike-men will almost instantly abandon there spears for swords. Is it different in this mod? Thanks.

    No 2. weapon -> no switching = yes

    Because people complain both ways... that cavalry is not powerful enough or is too powerful. I tend to think some cavalry is a bit too powerful but mostly it is fairly balanced. True heavy cavalry will beat almost any infantry except elite pikemen or some Armor Piercing axes/halberds that trap them in a street or something.

    Weaker cavalry still causes damage but can be defeated by regular spearmen as long as the spearmen don't take charge full on.

    I think cavalry are fine the way they are. Since any nation can recruit them easily enough (except for some of the east nations, but they have HAs) and even a full on charge onto the equivalent of Sipahi Dismounted guys, the infantry will take 40% casualties but be able to kill around 25% of the cavalry. Next charge around they will be much less effective

    I got owned once too by rebels with pikes. I was so ashamed.

    You have my sympathies - the toughest two rebel provinces to conquer in 'early', for me, are Brughes and Antwerp, both of which have a defence force including pike formations, always a very careful combat with lots of micromanegement.
    I am always wary of rebels in the Alps too, as rebels get advanced units quicker than nations, so facing off against swiss pike with early spear/urban militia is scary!

    Urban militia can slaughter pike militia during siege as well.

    It is different but it is on the other edge. Pikes are ahistorically strong in this mod. The best pikes are in M2:Kingdoms.

    PB tweaked them some more and now he's happy with the result. The version of RR/RC you're using is a year old.
