    Default HELP installing! Start up then crash :S

    I just finished installing the game, but when i try to run it through the launcher, it all starts up fine, it gets to the BROKEN CRESENT loading screen. Then my screen goes black and it disappears... No crash warning / error message. I am a Steam user.

    My installation was as follows (Steam user):
    1. Downloaded the file Broken Crescent 2.02 from the moddl.com link.
    2. I believe i did steps 1 and 2 correctly.
    3. Step 3 was weird, i could find some files to delete. But not others. The ones I couldnt find were:
    [quote]
    b. Remove this file from your BC world file found in the following target path; “C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\medieval ii total war\mods\Broken_Crescent \broken_crescent\data\world\maps\base”;
    map.rwm

    c. Remove these files from your BC text file found in the following target path; “C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\medieval ii total war\mods\Broken_Crescent \broken_crescent\data\sounds”;
    events.dat
    events.idx

    [quote]
    I turned on hidden files, still nothing.

    4. I then downloaded and dragged and dropped the missing files into the correct place.
    5. I believe i followed step 5 correctly.

    Here are some screen shots to help you discover what the problem is. They are attached.

    Sorry for being annoying but i really wanna try this out!

    Thank you.

    Finlay

    Edit: Also, for part 3, the files i had to delete:
    a. Remove these files from your BC text file found in the following target path; “C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\medieval ii total war\mods\Broken_Crescent \broken_crescent\data\text”;
    expanded.txt.strings.bin
    export_units.txt.strings.bin
    quotes.txt.strings.bin
    campaign_descriptions.txt.strings.bin
    names.txt.strings.bin
    export_buildings.txt.strings.bin

    I deleted these files but they did not have .strings.bin on the end of them.. whatever that means.

    I just found out something:
    My file directory is:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\medieval ii total war\mods\Broken_Crescent\broken_crescent

    When i change the first "Broken_Crescent" (the one with capitals) to: "Broken Crescent" with no underscore, and try and launch it, it launches normal medieval II total war.

    :S help

    NEVER MIND. I found out that you dont need to delete ANYTHING in step 3.

    You might want to update the install for steam users so more people don't make this mistake!!!

    You shouldn't delete any files, but those listed in instructions. You should install the game accordingly to instructions. If you can't find .strings.bin files, then you shouldn't delete any other as substitutes; that doesn't work this way.

    I'm sorry but you will have to wait until General George Monck finds some time. He is now busy with developing some BC3 features, and I have no idea when could he help you. I can't help you, because I don't have Steam.

    Though I'm quite sure that deleting those files makes whole operation even more complicated. Without those .txt files you may experience some errors, so my advice is to put them back to /text directory.

    Dear stewarfj,

    Please read the Installing BC onto Steam thread and then post a detailed description of your issue.

    I will get back to you as soon as I've got a useful response.

    Good luck,
