Custom Battles

When i go to the custom battle menu the first page has some options such as choosing weather, or settlement type but when i click on them there are no options. is there something i have to do in game to unlock these custom battle options? thanks

Some maps have pre-defined options. Try choosing another map from the list, one without an icon.

Oh I see, but I'm unable to play a siege as the defense. When I set up a battle with a settlement I'm automatically the attacker. Is there a way I can make myself the defender in a siege?

in the customize battle window (after you choose the settlement), on the right of your florin amount there is a small icon, either a shield if you defend or a sword if you attack. Just click on it!!!
