    Default Cursus Honorum

How does the Cursus Honorum work in FOE? It's been a long time since I played the Romans, and I just started a new campaign, and I'm having trouble upgrading Tribunis Militum to Legatus Legionis... I've got 2-3 guys who have 10 years as tribune, and have both the status of "Tribunis Militum" and "Former Tribune", and won't upgrade to Legates. I saw something about "Infantry Commander of Genius", and something on the ExRM forum about the way it works in that mod, but I was wondering if it works the same in FOE as it does in ExRM (not that I've played that much, I kept getting CTD's and my computer kept freezing when I attempted to play it it).

If it works in ExRM like it does in RTR 6, then it likely works the same in FoE

I did also come across some errors in the system, point is that we never really looked into it but just copied it from RTR 6 / ExRm...

RTR 6? as in Platinum? I was never aware of "consular armies", principe senati, tribunes, legates, generals, and years of military service in the old RTR... Did I miss something?

Platinum is one of the RTR 6 versions, yes...

That's why I put the "if" here:

my point is that it doesn't work the same way in RTR6 as it does in FOE... so I didn't make any sense of your statement

But like Maurits said, we didn't change traits for FoE...

Yes, as far as I'm aware. And that was copied I believe from Marcus Camillus' mini-mod for RTR 6 / Platinum

Because no one answered your other question...

The Tribunes need to be in charge of an army (i.e. have the gold star) for them to be promoted to Legate. Also note that there are a limited number of Legates, but I seriously doubt you'll ever run out of them.

well, they're all the "first commander" of troops... and haven't spent any serious amount of time within a city.

    Oh!
Reading what you put again I can see the problem.

What you need to do is to leave the general in a city for 3 turns so that he loses the Tribune trait. When he loses that you then put him in charge of an army and on the subsequent turn he should be promoted.

aha, ok! That wasn't quite clear Thank you!

In more recent news, my "conqueror of carthage" managed to get himself killed on his way back to Rome for his triumph... Oh the Irony...

We are looking into reforming this system for VII, but we'll see if we have the time and manpower for it
