    Default Preferences file contents

    Ok so i just re downloaded M2TW after a small break from the game. I started a custom battle to get into the feel of the game again and i felt like a really had to turn off those annoying green arrow markers under my units.
    Now i no you can do this in Rome because i have done it many times but when i went to my preferences file for M2TW there were only these two lines...

    [video]
    widescreen=0
    [game]
    allusers=1

    The game is running perfectly fine without the rest of it... what is happening???
    Also if anyone can tell me how to get rid of the green arrows that would be helpfull

    You have to start a campaign for it to generate one. custom battles will not.

    When the rest is generated you should have your green arrows.

    I wonder if it could be in the users\username\appdata\roaming\whatever follows folder?

    Ihave the UAC disabled and installed in c:\Games so I can't check.

    Shouldn't be. Even with considering the UAC problems the preferences.cfg file should be stored locally. I can't see how a game that was initially designed for XP would be able to find it otherwise....

    EDIT: irishron - does Win7 write-lock folders in Programs(x86) on default?

    It can. Good point. Check to see if it is set read-only.

    I checked in the username/appdata file and no that didnt give any results.

    I also checked to see whether the file was read only and it wasnt.

    Ive heard about someone who had the same problem and he ended up copying and pasting someone elses whole preferences folder, Im not sure whether this is allowed though?

    It's really not allwed.

    Delete the one you have and see what it generates when you start a campaign.
