    Default Discussion: Imamate Of Yemen

I am just opening a discussion for Yemen because I am really excited that they are coming in BC3 so I would like to find more about them. Firstly:
What will the faction leader name be?(I mean will it be Great Imam like Oman?)
And will Yemen have elephants? I have heard that Yemen have elephants somewhere, might be badly mistaken though.
It would be good for other people to post their questions and answers so we all find out more about the Imamate of Yemen.

    Sounds very cool
Back in the day I always argued for a Yemeni faction and it's nice to see this happen!

I agree! I've always thought that Arabia was underpopulated.

Yes and in that order normally Makuria should attack Egypt first while Ethiopia and Yemen fight for the red sea, but seeing the Omani army coming should be normal too

I think it will be really great with all thoses new factions and especially a faction like Yemen .

But they are not the first faction i will pick in BC 3 though

I was iffy about a Yemen faction (even though Yemen is one of my favorite places on earth), because the Ayyubids controlled Yemen in 1073 (or 1074, I forget), but the way it's being dealt with, or alteast described, has me really looking forward to this faction. Playing the Zaidi Imamate from the mountains will make for a weak offensive faction, but a strong defensive faction. Not to mention Yemen was reknown for her walled in cities, towns, and even villages. I'm hoping playing Yemen will start off playing strong defense before pushing out.

It's not certain when exactly Ayyubids attacked Yemen, and some sources claim that it was in 1174. Moreover, not whole Yemen was conquered then, but only Lower Yemen, and Upper Yemen was independent for some time.

I hope as AI(when not played by player) they are good and sometimes will not get destroyed by the ayyubids. Also since the Ayybuids are very close, won't Yemen need a lot of troops to keep them at bay so are you going to provide them with many troops at the start or not?

Well, there are factions which, when under AI control, would be relatively quickly destroyed in most cases.

However, Ayyubids in Yemen will be rather far from their base in Egypt - and that also should have a negative effect on their abilities to subjugate Yemen.

i mean with the upper yemen is sada and najran

but the ayobids invaded first zubid and it was under the mahdi family rule then tazz and aden and it was under the bani zuriea rule then they weant to sana and it was under the bani hatem rule and after that the bani hatem became vessels to the ayobids

    Roughly speaking:

    Weaknesses:

    1. Lack of heavily armoured units.
    2. Faction facing an immediate threat from Ayyubid invasion.
    3. Weak initial economic situation.

    Strengths:

    1. Immediate access to variety of brave Arabic tribal units.
    2. Units with exceptional morale.
    3. After dealing with Ayyubid invasion - great possibilities of development and expansion.

Is it possible to set the Abbuyid has enemy from the get go ?

Because in the last BC playing KoJ was kind of easy because the Abbuyids were neutral to you, so you could march your mans to damascus and kick their arse or cruch them in a decisive battle.

For Yemen to be realistic it must be enemy to Abbuyids from the start

Will Yemen have any unique buildings? I don't if there are any ancient buildings in Yemen though.
