    Default SPANISH REPUBLIC FLAG (help?)

    OK so I dont like the spanish republics flag. I know where are other mods out there with the realistic flag (its got purple and the like on it, eugh) and in my opinion that's not nearly as bold enough so I've come up with a couple of ideas of my own which, while not historically accurate, they would tend to make the game more immersive for me.

    The design is similar to the spanish flag as it is at the moment but with the yellows replaced with white, which in turn matches the spanish republican army uniforms.

    While it seems to be a rather simple change, I know modding is NEVER simple. Im not sure which programs to use, where to stick the files etc. Could anyone help me?

    Simple designs below (one using the emblem from Rome)

    I will try to help you as much as possible:

    You will need an graphic editor to open and edit the flag texture ( *.tga format file ).

    Next you will need to open the ui.pack file, from your ETW data directory ( Pack File Manager 1.13 in example ).

    Then you will need to edit proper flag texture and create a new mod pack ( safest option to choose from ) with this single texture file and place this mod inside data directory.

    Finally, you will need the Mod Manager 1.5 to launch this mod and the whole ETW.

    I attached PFM 1.13 inside the *.rar archive.

    You will need to find the Spanish republican flag ( if exist in default ETW ) inside the ui.pack.

    Simply open this ui.pack with PFM 1.13 and open the *.tga image i.e with Fast Stone Image Viewer ( freeware ).

    Then you could send this image i.e to Paint or Gimp to edit it, according to your will and suites.

    Never edit the vanilla, default ETW file inside pack file --> better make a new mod pack.

    When you find proper *.tga image of the Spanish republican flag - ask me for further modding instructions.

    I hope, that this info would help you!

    Tell me precisely, which aspect of the "above stage" you don't understand and i will try to help you!

    Yes i started somewhere --> i asked people for help as you did, but in general i experimented with modding on my own.

    Then i searched the Internet for free tool that opens *.tga and *.dds textures format (i.e DXTBmp and Fast Stone Image Viewer ).

    =========================================================================================================================

    Visit this website for DXTBmp free tool:

    http://fly.to/mwgfx/

    Or use other graphic editor --> the choose is yours!

    Every faction's flag is a simply *.tga image stored inside ui.pack.

    Sorry, but i' m not able to explain this problem more simply ( you will see, that modding is easy if you get some experience in it ).

    When you will be ready with flag editing, ask for further help ( making a mod pack and launching it this with Mod Manager 1.5 in your ETW ).

    Ok, I have dxtBMP installed. I have ui.pack opened with PackFileManager.

    I've scolled down to flags\spain_republic\

    there are 11 flag animations, one file named flag_132.tga, hud_left.tga and hud_right.tga (i know there's another tutorial up on twcentre about these so that will come later)

    as well as there being files named:

    large.tga
    small.tga
    mini_flag.tga
    portrait_flags.tga

    could you tell me what my next step is?

    Ok, now the deal is to edit those *.tga files.

    DXTBmp is useful mostly for *.dds, but also for *.tga.

    =======================================================================================================================

    So, step by step what you should do:

    1) Open one of the *.tga with DXTBmp tool.

    2) Export the image to the Paint.

    3) Edit image and save changes.

    4) Update the image.

    5) Save the file as a *.tga.

    6) Replace the default tga with the changed one.

    Note: Wait, i would like to attach some images to help you!

    =======================================================================================================================

    EDIT : This program and images are partly in Polish language, but don't worry i will translate it for you!

    1) So, open all needed *.tga images.

    2) Send them to Editor ( each one separately of course, default Paint ).

    3) Make changes and save.

    4) Save the whole file as *.tga.

    5) Replace the default tga with the changed one.

    6) Save the changes in ui.pack ( uncheck CA only to read option ).

    This tool have a Help tutorial section.

    =======================================================================================================================

    Keep in mind, that this will make a permanently change in vanilla ui.pack (!!).

    If you want to make a mod, instead of making changes in default game files ( ui.pack ), please tell me and i will support you with additional information!
