    Default A Little Request to the Dev team

    Hello,

    While I realize that the dev team have gone past human limits to make this excellent mod, I have a request to make which I think will make the battles much more interesting and tempting to play (maybe many others will think the same)

    The request: is there a possibility to import the unit voices from the EB mod? So that the units will answer in their native languages when clicked on. Could this be added in the next patch? I know that its not possible to add everything the fans want to see added into the game (that would make the patch be released in months and would be too much pain for the poor Dev team I think) I'm only curious if there is a possibility to import that feature into the next patch.

    I take it you like RSII more than EB but prefer the EB voices? That's how I feel, anyway.

    And all the battle cries also. But It would be sadly toooooo much work. And I dont think the team has enough spare time to do that

    I've always preferred the original RTW voices in my language. If this gets done (by anyone), I hope it's an optional add-on rather than part of an official patch.

    And I believe it is an optional feature in the EB installer, but still celtic warcries will scare the shi* out of anything

    It wasn't when I last played EB a few weeks ago (I had a minor, temporary Baktria addiction ).

    EB voices are just so natural it really adds to the gameplay I think. But I do realize that this would be too much work for the dev team... Maybe in RSIII then

    I also prefered the voices from EB. They make it more realistic. And some units when clicked on say something they are not really. But it's really hard to make native voices like EB has done. RSII is more based on realistic looks etc than voices, which are only a small part of the game.
    But they can't do this. It's owned by the EB team and I doubt they would give the RSII team permission to use it aswell.

    They could make their own voices but that would be hard :S

    I always wanted roman voices in latin, not in english. It would be cool, if every faction could speak in the native language. At least the romans.

    And whats the point of this ? Nobody would understand it anyway and would just click it away...the speeches are clicked away anyway by everybody except newbies...so it makes little to none sense to invest the time and energy to introduce something like this

    Just to clarify - this is not about the battle speeches but about what a unit replies when you
    click onto them - like in vanilla: "hastati" or "hoplites" etc.

    Though i don't mind either if it's in latin or any other original language since even in english
    it doesn't matter that much to me, what a unit is telling me when i click onto it. It even
    rather annoys me when clicking between a few units and i have to hear it over and over again
    but it's still not that big of a problem.

    Hi, the problem is we never could find the voices to do it.
    And EB has their own. That wasn't really high on the list. DVK had plenty to do,
    with Tone making models and skinning along with others skinners, and Paaco makeing buildings and shields, and apple on music and other things, which you guys can see on the credits list we had plenty to do.
    I wanted it and a few others also. But it couldn't be done at this time.
    Maybe in the future? One can never tell.
    At this point we are testing the updates, so you guys can have them.

    The thing is that the EB voices are for EB. Sure we could ask them for permission to use them but I don't think they would grant us them.
    Also, I really don't think any Dev member would have time to add them even if we would get permission to use them.

    We discussed this some time ago, along with unit names and such in the native languages. Don't get me wrong...it's very cool, and my hat's off to EB for all the work that got put into it. But RS2 isn't, nor was it intended to be an attempt to duplicate the efforts of EB. We did things 'our way'.....it's as simple as that. In this case, almost all of us preferred the voices that RTW came with, since it kinda 'links' the mod to the engine it was built on. EB endeavored to create a very historical modification of RTW that really almost doesn't resemble RTW anymore, though it uses the engine. We wanted a very historical mod that's 'RTW on steroids'. It's just a different set of goals, I guess.

    As if RSII still resembles RTW
    Personally, I agree with Dvk here. Perhaps, if that person would get permission from the EB team, work for a submod?

    A submod would also be preferred because, like has been said, some people have preference for the vanilla voices in our own native languages.

    Why all these mods, they all do the same thing only some mods do better some things and other \do other things better. I bet if all the mods were combined we'd have a game of the decade

    No, some mods do things completely different from other mods. I wouldn't call End of Days "the same thing" as EB or XGM "the same thing" as Aristeia. Individual teams often have entirely different visions of what they want and there's no way the conflicting ideas of, for example, the EB team could coexist with those of XGM greator DimeBagHo.

    Besides, it's better to have a bunch of different mods suited to individual tastes than one gigantic monster mod that the average TW player's computer probably wouldn't be capable of playing and that not everybody would like.
