    Default Screenshots, please? *spoiler*

...for poor ol' me who is separated from his RTW.

I know you're probably all overcome with excitement right now (Averni! They're in! Averni! ) but if a couple of people could take some screenshots of awesomely cool new stuff, I'd be very very happy.

Especially the new hoplite and pikeman animations (if they're in )

    Thanks, guys.

Yup. There are nine. None with the "cool new Hoplite animations". Didn't it make it to the OB?

As far as I can tell all new animations are implemented, at least the two handed cavalry animation, the overhand hoplite animation and the two handed pike animation are implemented.

Anyway here are 3 screenshots I took today:

    Default Some Celtic Sceenies

Bit biased on the Celtic stuff myself ....

    Some examples of EB Celts:

    Regionally accurate Standard Bearers

    Regionally accurate Officers

    Regionally accurate Generals

    Regionally accurate Mercenaries

    Regionally accurate Units

I have a question, PSYCHO V. Is it normal that I don't have any of those Celtic officers in my game? In fact; that all
    officers/generals have vanilla skins?

Yes..quite normal. There's a **** load of stuff ready to be implemented. The Beta is that.. a beta. It's basically the guts. A lot of "pretty" / visual material in the beta is either redundant, obsolete or just placeholders. Sooner yall help to ironout hte bugs, the sooner we'll get more of the "pretty" stuff.

Yes, all EB units make extensive use of alphas so we designed the Gaesatae with a PC version in mind for those that dont appreciate the historically accurate version. This will be included in future installs. The current is just a placeholder.

Incidentally... most of those pics are over a year old now.

What Hellene lads? Where? Pleeeaaaase just show us a screenie....

Celts are awesome, btw, definately going to play as either the Aedui or Averni first. Is this vanilla generals thing common to all factions or just Averni?

It's the Arverni, not Averni. A lot of people have been misspelling this.

Is there a way to censor the violence in EB, for instance new animations in which they do not stab each other with spears and hack with swords, but rather throw flowers at each other and those hit hardest fall asleep on the spot? I realise that it is of course far more important to shield sensitive minds from the extremely corrupting influence of viewing drawings of penises, which is much greater than the influence from viewing fighting, but it would still be nice to have the option to shield those sensitive to violence too.

What o meant was did they really have to take it that far? Do we really want nudity in RTW?

The fact is that more people are offended by nudity than by violence, or simply would prefer not see genuinely naked warriors running about while playing. Further, such depictions are illegal in certain places. If there is whining about us offering people an option, be it for personal preference or whatever, you can complain about it elsewhere. The only reason we have the naked Gaesatae is because it is historically accurate. However, that level of complete accuracy isn't for everyone, and we recognize that. Once we get a bit further along you will have a choice between naked or mostly naked Gaesatae with the real naughty parts covered. No need for anyone to make fun or anyone to complain, because everyone will get what they want.

Gotta love those nudes. Who got the job of skinning and texturing the genitalia? I would love to know!

Regionally accurate units are great. I don't like having Germanic Mercenaries running around in Arabia (happened to me several times).

The way I see it, the nudity adds to the historical correctness of the mod, and does not in any way detract from it. It is not like it is there in order to arouse or shock, it is completely non-erotic as far as I can tell. I would say the nudity has the same moral value as nudity in books about human anatomy or illustrations in history books which depict people who actually were naked. You should consider that some consider it indecent for men to walk about in public with naked arms and legs (in benighted places like Iran for instance, the Taliban supposedly banned playing association football because wearing shorts in public is indecent). Should one therefore have alternate skins to cover up the legs and arms of those who take offense at the display of naked arms and legs? Why is the nudity such a bad thing? Does it really corrupt anyone? Does seeing other mens penises in locker rooms corrupt the innocent?

Incidentally, if there is censor patch made, do not make it seamless by adding trousers or a loincloth; rather, make it real obvious by giving Ken doll crotches and write on their chests "Censored" with an arrow pointing to the crotch.

This derision does not help your point. You may not agree with it. I personally see no problem with it. However, some people do. And comparing it to people taking offense to exposed arms or legs is stretching it heavily and you know that; it is not at all the same thing, and pretending it is in some smug-self important and self-superior manner does not help your point. If people want to enjoy the game but would rather censor that, they will have that option and we will not mock them for their personal opinion, and give them that option because a substantial number of people may prefer that option, as opposed to being a tiny, insignificant minority. Polls were held for this long ago, and that's the end of it. We will not make fun any further, and show respect for others opinions on the matter, like adults.

To the original complaint of the Gaesatae being nude, there's also no need to whine about it. And to anyone else, grow up (and this is to the whole jacked-up bunch). It is impolite to mock people for not wanting to see...everything. At the same time, it's irritating to whine about nudity rather than pose a question about such an option (and this has happened before in earlier discussions of the Gaesatae). Now that you all know the option will exist, I please insist any complaints about the nudity of the Gaesatae cease, as well as mockery of those who have complained.

On a lighter note, about requesting the Gaesatae wear something; that's not totally unfounded. Hannibal's bodyguards were Gaesatae, and in most cases he was insistent they wear armor in battle, as he valued them greatly.
