Default Wild tigers on the verge of extinction

I know there are plenty of endangered species, but this article from MSNBC states that there over the past decade poachers have killed nearly 1000 wild tigers. And here's the kicker - there are only about 3200 estimated wild tigers still alive worldwide.

This story hit me pretty hard. The tigers were one of my favorite animals at the zoo growing up, and my high school mascot. I new they were endangered but had no idea how endangered:

The Chinese gov't pretty much lets it happen to. They are killed for medicine, which could easily and more cheaply be provided by some cheap herbs. They are doing anything to make a buck. I honestly won't be surprised if they go extinct.

I wonder if it is possible to create a large-scale captivity breeding program.

Not before we kill large amount of human population hence ensure we have no need to develop tigers' habitation for our living problems.

Aren't there vast swaths of land that still aren't being used? You go into the countryside of any country and it's just vast swaths of......... uh, nothing. Surely one of those areas is good for tigers to live in?

lets just kill all the animals off then

Leave it to the modder to perfect the works of the paid developers for no profit at all.

Excellent news, one less predator to terrorize our frail species.
As a teenager, I was taken to various houses and flats above takeaways in the north of England, to be beaten, tortured and raped over 100 times. I was called a “white slag” and “white ****” as they beat me.

How deluded to believe that we will be safer by eliminating everything around us don't you think...

Nature needs a balance, and even if that balance is mostly flexible and many species don't really make it we should not go around believing that we can actually manipulate survival and extinction without really thinking about the consequences...

There needs to be death penalty on killing tigers or trading parts of them. It works for Giant Pandas in China, so why not with other species? Tigers are far more important than oddities like the Giant Panda.

I've mixed feelings about it. While it's sad seeing tigers disappearing, I think sometimes it's just better to let it go. Call it darwinism, but if a species can't make it on its own, I don't see why we should force its existance.

The reason why it can't make it on it's own is because of the continued poaching. I can understand when species die out on their own but this is all humanity's fault. And that's why we need to act now, Tigers aren't the only ones endangered.

There are 8, yes 8 Northern White Rhino's left in captivity, their already extinct in the wild. Continued hunting from local tribesmen drove them to this state. There is a fine line between Mother Nature's deeds and Human terrorism, and us humans have crossed that line a lot of times.

If you are implying Natural Selection, I don't think any animal has a chance against weapons.

Chimpanzees use tools to capture and eat termites. They also use clubs on occasion. We use projectiles and traps to kill things. What's the difference except we do it better?

The fact that our tools are far more advanced? We are the same in the sense that our bodies are all connected in one way or another. But it's our minds that think of the more advanced actions and...

Wait, why are we discussing the differences of humans and other animals here? Sorry but it's my first real visit in D&D so :/.

Quit blaming China; tigers are also found in Indonesia (Sumatra), India, Russia, and in the Indo-Chinese nations.

India was highest on the list, followed by China and Nepal.
"Given half the world’s tigers live in India, it’s no real surprise the country has the highest number of seizures," report author Pauline Verheij said in a statement.
People don't know how to read articles.

Though if its India: we should definetly blame China. Do as I say.

    what about the dutch

But look at the asiatic lion, they are completely isolated to India(some place called Gir), there used to be only 50 of them left but now there are around 400. You'd think that such a low genetic pool would mean that they are destined for eventual extinction right ?
