    Default AI Assassinations bugged?

    Playing VH/VH, I have had repeated instances of level 1(!) AI Assassins killing off my Faction Leader and heir, even after several reloads.

    If it helps, I've been playing Rome, and the Assassins have been Papal and Sicilian.

    Anyone else with this issue?

    The AI likes to use assassins especially if a faction only has 1 region (no idea why but I've seen them kill off factions that way.)

    the descr_campaign_db.xml has a section on assassins:

    I expect some wiz will come along and explain what all of those mean - I don't have the necessary of this machine.

    the AI also gets ancilliaries and traits for its assassins (same as human player afaik)

    to deal with the threat you have to kill AI assassins - they're usually quite easy to kill if they don't have too much assassin points and doing so buffs your own assassins.

    Yep-Yep, and though you probably already know this, a good way is to find a region with a small rebel army there and start training assassins. Just kill the captain over and over again. Assassin school! Yay! Got my finest assassin this way, who's now busy trying to kill off the entire Norwegian royal family.

    Also, remember that reloading won't change the outcome of a "random" event. It is one of the most commonly asked questions why the assasssin keeps missing/hitting even after many reloads.

    You can change fate by moving another unit one square before you order the strike.

    Or you can do like me and accept the slings and arrows of wanton fate..

    I was about to say "But I have had a different outcome on a reload!" but I guess it counted as if I moved a square since my assassin wasn't standing right next to the target.

    In my english campaign (Turn 15) Scotland has assasinated my Heir and 2 other Generals..

    like seriously...

    I figured that the assassins were of the same bloodline as the merchants that almost never fail at taking over my business. As though the AI knows when that 10% is a winner and when it isn't. In my current Teutonic campaign the Kievan Rus have been assassinating anything of mine that can be accessed, and only siege me when spies I can never flush out of hiding open the gates. I'm calling it a good thing though because I've never had a campaign where agents were a threat.
