    Default Reducing amount of turns

    Hello folks,

As we all know, there is an event in the campaign which suddenly makes everyone realise the world was round all the time! Well, waddayaknow? As we love to explore those distant horizons in order to make our huge empire even huger, we'd like to lurk across the atlantic and trample any self-proclaimed civilization under our armored boots. Now, as it appears, crossing the Atlantic will take ten turns, or twenty years. Do you imagine? Ten turns. As this is not only ahistorical, it is also bloody annoying, certainly when transporting units of fresh, clean conquistadores back to the civilised world. Is there any possible way to bend physics or time (modding teh filez) to make the journey shorter?

    Most kindley regards,

    Ye Knighte Of Portucale.

Adjust the time scale in the descr_strat.txt.

If you set 0.5 year/turn in descr_strat then your journey will be "only" 5 years long.
Bad thing is that you'll have to start new campaign, and every event will happen after 4 times bigger amount of turns.

No, what I meant was: How can I make the journey shorter in turns, not years. No matter if the journey still takes only 5 years, it will still cost me 10 bloody turns.

Open descr_characters I believe it is and increase the base movement for admirals or add a trait for admirals that increases their movement speed.

    Yes that is correct:-
    Code:
    starting_action_points	80
^This is what you will be editing in descr_character.txt file.

Mind you though it will increase for AI as well and thus increase the next turn time loading.

Until you put troops on there. They are the ones that are really going to say how far how fast. But the caveat is those measurements are for land so you may end up going from Paris to Kiev in two moves if you're not careful.

Yep, descr_character is the one, and this part deals only with admirals, increase it to 100 which should help.

    type admiral
actions moving_normal, quick_sail, blockade, disembark, exchange
    wage_base 50
    starting_action_points 80

Can't there be done something about the map to change that? That the ocean is crossed in about two turns without modding ship movement points or that.

Redo the maps to reduce the Atlantic between them. It stayed undiscovered that long for a reason.
