just watched it again few days ago. and when im looking overall on historical movies this is one of bests. yes the story is holywoodic and predictable but so is braveheart and gladiator those considerd as masterpeices. this movie on the other hand is less heavy and more a summer kind of film. but there are alot of great things about it. many people say its stupid beacuse of de rock as the lead actor but he was good in that movie.

there some great fight scenes and the decoretion of the cities, and everything there is really good. really get you into the period.

im not exectly sure what period it is since they dont give you any details but its looks like around 600 bc of babilon

anyway everyone who love historical movies should see it

yes because in the mummy 2 it was more fantasy like de rock as a giant scorpion. and then changed it to be more historical.

To be honest I doubt there exists a movie that is 100% historically accurate, but the Scorpion King is just complete fantasy. It's an action movie with swords and sorcery etc, nothing more. For a film to be classified as 'historical' it at least has to follow history to a degree.

i dont remember sorcery. there was that part with the scientist who discoverd gunpowder. that was clearly unacruatte off course but not sorcery

execpt a part with fire ants that kill a man i dont rmember many fantasy parts. mostly sword fights.

Except for an Egyptian stele or something with a mention of a scorpion king, this film is complete fantasy.

Calling this historical is like calling The Expendables a realistic depiction of a guerilla war.
Some day I'll actually write all the reviews I keep promising...

so gladiator is not historical either because it was not based on real story too right?

You're not getting that no one besides you ever calls Gladiator or The Scorpion King a historically accurate film.
And no, Gladiator isn't very historical.

Scorpion king was pretty bad but compared to scorpion king 2 it was a masterpiece of historical accuracy, well developed story lines and excellent acting.

    no im not.

yhea this is a kinda b movie in terms of storyline but: great battle scenes, great decoraton of all things like the castle and the ancient city and all that. so its not a bad film. it isnt a masterpiece but saying its bad?

i mean how much historical movies we have? i actually prefer that over fantasy and comics movies.

i wish we had more movies like that on diffrent times

The only good part is when The Rock jumps down into the big hut and says, "Boo." Then everyone runs away scared. After that I just wanted to see the chick's boobs. Terrible movie otherwise.

I think you're confusing the terms. What you call "historical movie" isn't what normal, educated people would define as one. For a motion picture to be considered historical, it would need to follow history(or at least a historical account of the events). In that way Gladiator was only partly historical, since there wasn't a general called Maximus Decimus Meridius, Marcus Aurelius died of plague and Commodus didn't die in the arena, but was instead strangled in his bath. In fact the only real facts(as far as we know) are that Marcus Aurelius fought the Germans(among others) and that his son Commodus was a gladiatorial affictionado. The rest is blatant copypasting from the history of Spartacus, Cincinatus among others.

For a comparatively historical movie, you would want to watch Alexander(although it also has some deviations, it follows ancient historians' accounts much more closely).

The Scorpion king is an action movie, based in "the ancient times".
