Latin Auxilia

Hey there,

I started recently a new campaign with SPQR 8.0, and was wondering how the Latin auxilia were designed to be used ?

As far as I understand from the unit description, there should be roughly one Auxilia Legion per Pre-Marian legion ? Do they fight together, like the Auxilia Legion should never be far from its entitled Pre-Marian Legion ? Also, do you give a general to an Auxilia Legion ? Or do you let them without general, and leave the units to the computer when fighting, therefore acting as reinforcements ?

Or on the contrary, do Auxilia Legion fight on their own, and may even be affected to regions were there isn't even a regular Legion ?

Well, to sum up, how do you personally play them, or how do you think they are intended to be played ?

P.S: 8.0 looks definitely very stable, and the new units are such candy eyes ! Kudos LT !!

Basically I would use them in Forts and as support troops. They are not as good as regular hastatii etc but they are cheaper.

Glad you like this version, I WISH i COULD HAVE ADDED Judea, but I had some CTD issues, so I removed it. But the New map and units etc is alot to enjoy, Plus its been heavily beta tested for a year or more now.

WEll, ive been playing only 6,4 and 7 so far, but auxilia useage.

I kinda miss ability to train sword and spear auxilia in Italy for obvious reasons, otherwise I use them as support troops, but from my point of view, they can stand up to fight nearly anything enemy can throw at me. Ive gotten best to the point where i had about 10 auxilia legions supporting the huge huge front.

I am wondering about auxilia in 8.0, once I start playing it again. Hopefully, itll be fun.
