Do you think impersonating other players on gamespy is ethical? And what do you think about using different cd-keys to log on undercover?

It happened to me once or twice...not on gamespy, but it still wasn't cool. It's funny though, because you realize that you actually have fans![]()
Its pretty fun (the different cd-key part). Just using another name with your own key is retarded.
shameful and cowardly
only done by the lowliest of the low

Anyone can play with their real name. It takes a man with balls to play with someone elses.

By playing under the names of several people you take on much more responsibility. If you use a name you need to win under that name or else you bring shame to that person. Thus it takes someone who is honorable to play under multiple names.
Is it true that even some of the (so called) respected clans do this? And how can they claim to be respected anymore after this?
Eh? You know how you could avoid bringing shame (shame on a videogame, who'd have thought it) to that person altogether? By not impersonating them in the first place. And in what way is it honourable to impersonate others? I find your argument peculiar.
Yes it's true. I could claim to be a mongoose if I wanted, but it wouldn't make it so.

Bullpucky.
Nobody is being hacked. wtf.
In most clans, if you are caught impersonating a player from another clan, you are likely to be kicked out for dishonourable conduct.
You said it. Impersonating others is dishonourable wheter you own as them or not. if someone logs on and sees himself 3 times he will be pissed either way.
It is disgusting behaviour to pretend to be someone else, as you are taking away someone else's identity without their permission and fooling others of your own.
As for logging on under a different name, I have no opinion of it so long as it isn't used to fool others of your identity.
Sense. This post doesn't make any.
I have always regarded people and their clan as a seperate entity.

Smilies...the resort of those with a vacuous argument
Faking someone is my god-given right. If I have his cd-key I can fake him all I want.
Also who cares? Think about it, when I faked Beatch Plant's face lit up thinking it was actually Beatch, who cares whether I was or not the real Beatch, the end result is the same. You try to reflect real life morals on aing computer game, lmao. What am I going to do in real life? Steal someone's identity, bang his wife, steal his job?
Also what you people fail to realize is that the people that fake KNOWN players are usually the ones that get along best with these players anyhow... Its not like people that fake randomly pick a name and fake it.

God given right? You have some strange views on god and rights. Never mind that, no one can stop you from faking someone else, that is not in dispute. What is, is whether it is right for you to do so, and it isn't. You can be sure damn right I care who ever I play games with are who they say they are, whether I can be sure that they will understand the course of casual conversation and gameplay.
Do you really think that just because you are in playing a computer game that you cease to exist in reality, that other people don't exist and so it is perfectly fine to be rid of your own ethics? Do you honestly not see anything wrong with taking an online identity and pretend to be someone elses? But do as you will, for no one can stop you if you care enough to do so.

How does it take balls to admit it? There's no consequences since this is an online videogame. If someone is really so upset at being faked they'll very unlikely to invest the time and effort in order to track down their faker and show them a piece of their mind.
There are many things in life which take balls to do, faking someone on a videogame is very far from them. Anyone who thinks otherwise is deluding themselves.

I personally had no moral issues using grenday's cd key against him and confusing all his little trainees lol.
First off its not Aragorn
The god thing is just a phrase, not really pertaining to the topic at hand. Anyway, there is nothing wrong with using someone else's name only, specially if that person condones it. Sure there are things I am not proud of like when I used nord's name to call BiA russian n**gers, that got Nord pretty mad. But ofc reality ceases to exist. There isn't anything tangible, anything real online. What you know about someone online you know simply because they have told you. I would not be in the least bit suprised if Reeve and Boydy were one and the same. Or if Beatch really stopped playing rtw years ago and Reeve used his key ever sense. Our perception of reality in the REAL world is far different then that in cyberspace. If this little game were 2 years from now still alive and someone faked me online (properly I mean, with my key/x-fire/skype etc...) I would not be mad, I would be thrilled. My memory would continue long after I left the game, whether it is actually me or not doesn't matter. The only thing that ties us to that lobby is a name and a key, nothing more. I have talked to the people I faked, these are some of my best "friends" (idk what other word to use) online. Beatch himself told me I was the only person he talked to when he seldom came on x-fire. So would he be mad I used his name so I could get twice the bang for my buck in that hos tourney? Nah, he'd be happy for me. Some of the most fun things I have done in this game involve not some petty 1v1 or 2v2 but making fake clans, starting proxy wars, lmao, pretending to be a 20 year old Russian Nazi etc...
