German's In My Blood
Never really tried making screenshots, but in my most recent campaign as Portugal I have the Iberian Penninsula, as well as all of Africa below it. In my campaign as Hungary I had Budapest, Zagreb, Iasi, Sofia, Bran, Bucharest, and the cities from Antioch to Jerusalem including Aleppo and Edessa.
Spoiler for Pic:
England, Grand Campaign, M/M difficulty, very limited use of cheats (mostly toggle_fow), use of save/reload
Notable events:
- Made use of diplomacy to acquire Angers and Toulouse from France, and an alliance.
- Denmark had only Arhus when it decided to load almost its entire army onto a ship, which then had an unfortunate encounter with some pirates. Sent my army that was just done cleaning the Scottish highlands of rebels to take Arhus and destroyed Denmark.
- Hungary, beset by the Byzantiums and the Venetians, met up with my diplomat, got an alliance and Iasi out of it.
- Crusade to take Jerusalem from the Egyptians. Made a stop at Alexandria, then split my army into two, one smaller force to take Cairo and the main force went on to take Gaza and Jerusalem.
This game is suspended for now. Been trying to cut back even more on the cheating and I just learned that my settlement build order is terribly suboptimal when compared to my very first game; I should have focused on building ports as soon as possible.

Yup, ports are the most important part of your Empire.

What is a joke without pissing someone else off?
A bad joke!
why are ports so important, and also we need more submissions
Because:
- they provide synergistic bonuses with other towns or castles with ports, potentially improving their trade income as well,
- the income the ports provide, especially the higher tier ones, will provide more income than mining,
- they provide a small population growth bonus, which I believe is equivalent to farming improvements but I haven't tested.
At least those are the benefits I have understood so far, there may be more. However, I have still yet to properly understand how ports and farming improvements can improve my economy.
I'm interested in seeing your campaign. As the topic starter, you should have put yours up first.![]()
my largest empire was with england, dont got the save file anymore, however, i will never forget...
ive conquested the HRE and Denmark, Made the whole way down in africa, from there, i sent a crusading fleet straight to jerusalem, attaching egypt from both ways... left the turks with a few territories close to the bizantynes, 3 or more i guess...
anyway, completed the campaign objective with around 53 territories or less, cant remember for sure...
got in war with:scotland, denmark, venice, milan, hre, hungary, moors, spain, portugal, france, egipt, turks, maybe bizantynes, cant remember...
allied with:sicily and poland... but both betrayed me ¬¬"
ended with a very low reputation, had to pay the pope for favor all turns, or i couldnt expand...
I also played with Russia, conquered most of the rightside of the map withouth crossing those mountains in south, i knew i would get a desert disvantage... i spammed a lot of kazhaks and druzhinas to do so, and crossed large areas quickly, won some sieges by making the enemy leave their gates from starving, this way i had a cav based army
destroied:poland, hungary
it was a poor run, i was still learning how to play the game XD

It's not easy to have a high reputation when you first start out. You need alliances, and you need to know how to keep them. Fortunately it's not too hard once you learn the tricks. I'm working as France now, and have been lucky enough that HRE and Milan were excommunicated at one time, so I grabbed what I wanted from them. I have several alliances, a very reliable reputation, and a good bit of land. It's still kind of early though.
