Default A Stormy night in april system.

It was a stormful Monday night in January.

Okay so heres my first try to contribute with something usefull to our community.
As i got a brain for math.. Not that this is hard i thought i'd make a little proposal.
I still have a issue with the time warp thing so i thought okay i'll get used to it.. But i'll try to make it easier to figure out what date it is when your starting an rp so it'll be:
Well my idea is.. If you like i could make some calender like those

And then we could, when opening a new RP thread write
It was a cold monday morning in
    January.. bla bla
I know it isen't exactly simplifying it all but i'll make it easy in here and do the math for you.. i'll write it which days is within each hour so you just have to look at my calendar(if you think i should finish it) and then look at the clock. in here. That will give you a day and month.
What do you think? IS this to be forgotten or should i finish it?

So to find out how many ingame days that goes on one real life day we take.
The 7 nychthemerons in the week and divide it with
The 365 days in the ingame year:

1 real life nychthemeron equals 52 in the game.
    1
    52

    1 real life
nychthemeron equals real life 24 hours.
52 ingame nychthemerons gives 1248 ingame hours.
    24
    1248

24 real life hours gives real life 1440 minutes.
1248 ingame hours give us 74880 ingame minutes.
    1440
    74880
Now we take and fraction all the ingame minutes into the real life minutes.
    That equals
    0,0192 i'll just call it 0,02
Then you might think what the bull can we use this for?
Well if you Multiply 0,02 with 60 as there is 60 minutes on an hour you get 1,2.. So
We can easly conclude that each 1 minute and two seconds in real life takes an ingame hour? correct?
So now we get to the point. If we Multiply 1,2 with 24 we should get the time it takes for for an ingame hour to pass.
    So

    1,2 real life minutes * 24 ingame hours =
    28,8 minutes.
That means one ingame day takes 28 real life minutes.

Interesting idea. Good work with all the breakdowns. However cool, I am wondering if people would take the time to use it.

I'd probably use it a bit, but then probably forget it. I usually guess the season by what day. It would also confuse between people who use it dedicatedly and those who dont..
Saturday and Mid Sunday: Late Winter
    Mid Sunday to Tuesday Spring
    Tuesday to Wednesday Summer
    Wednesday to Late Thursday: Fall
Rest: Winter again and new Year

Yes..it's biased towards colder climates because i like the cold.

Hmm okay, i will not finish it then.. IF its not going to be used its just waste of my time.. Hmm i have already spent quite alot hours on the Tables xD.. But you might be right.. Maybe it was naive even stupid to think people would use extra time to visit this thread each time they created an RP. I feel shame.

I'll give it a shot..just need to find a notebook I have lying around to write this down, since it'll be annoying to check this every time I try to host a new RP.

Good work on the calender. I would say: Feel free to complete this if you like, I'm just worried that it might not be too widely-used. Though I know that I like to keep track of the seasons, I don't think it matters too much to others.

Don't kill it yet. That is only 2 opinions mate! If could get off the ground it might add a new depth to some RP. No sailing in winter... etc..

We've had proposals like this i think three times before, I do believe KoS made the first one two years back, (though it never included something to control the weather *hint*) but they never got off the ground because the average person doesn't like feeling controlled to such an extent. Most of us follow a personal rule - Monday is January and Sunday is December: just have to be fair with what's in between.

Don't let this get you down though - mine is just one opinion.

Jesus Christ, Narf. Your probably the most in depth RP'er I've laid my virtual eyes on. Which is a good thing

This propasal, however, may be a bit too complicated for people who just want to RP.

Or, you know, you could just go with whatever the RP required.

Hmm i see.. Well i will finish it and then you can use it or hate it i'm not proposeing a direct rule to be drawn down over your heads.
As for the math it goes like this:

One real life week equals one ingame year.
So to find out how many ingame days that goes on one real life day we take.
The 7 nychthemerons in the week and divide it up in
The 365 days in the ingame year:

So

    So

    1,2 real life minutes * 24 ingame hours =
    28,8 minutes.
That means one ingame day takes 28 real life minutes.

You have a bit of a rounding error. As one week represents one year, we look for the ratio of time in one week to one year:
    (7 days)/(365 days) = 0.019178 (5 significant figures)

The units cancel out, so what we have here is a constant which can be applied to any measure of time. If you want to know how long a hour in-game is, it is 7/365 real hours or (7/365 * 60 = 1.15 minutes).

If you're wanting to get the length of a day in hours, then we need:

    7/365 * 24 = 0.460 hours

Which, of course, in minutes is:

    7/365 * 24 * 60 = 27.616 minutes

Never round the number until you get to the final answer.

Thanks you very much! Yes.. Ofcourse.. i must look like a fool.. I should have stayed in schoole the last 3 years
Soo.. Each 27.616 minutes a day have passed ingame?
If we dublicate this with 52 it should give
    1440? right?
I get 1436. But i might be wrong as i don't have a calculator at hand.. which i why i round up and down.

Well it's going to be slightly less because there aren't exactly 52 weeks in a year - more 52-weeks-and-a-day.

I'm allergic to maths so I would not end up using this.
    Kudos on the effort though.
