Default Great Mod / Some Questions

I've been playing this mod for about 2 months, and its just fantastic, awesome way to get me to play RTW again. I started with a Carthaginian Campaign (after a few modifications to their military roster, but I do like the new style of it) and am almost finished with it, but I have a few general questions that still haven't figured out yet.

    1. I really like the recruitable generals, but is there any downside to using them? Will building a lot of them make your family members worse, or can I give every city a governor now without too much risk.

    2. I got the Grand Suffet trait on my faction leader, and it seems to be the Carthaginian version of the Imperator trait. Anyways, how does it get passed down to my other family members (I noticed one of them has an "Heir of the Grand Suffet"), and if the line dies out, is there any way of getting it again?

    3. Are the Parathians supposed to be able to recruit 70 sized cavalry units? I though they were only for the AI Parathians/Sycthians in the Imperial campaign. Or is the hidden resource steppesAI resource for something else?

    4. I like that phalanx units are now deployed without any space between them. Is there anyway to duplicate this on the group formations?

    5. This is more of a comment, but the independent factions (besides Rome) seem to be really powerful. The Indy Gauls killed off the real ones, and the Indy Greeks took most of Anatolia until I showed up. I thought the Eastern Kingdoms were an exception, but suddenly two armies from Petra and Ethiopia pushed TPE back to the Mediterranean Coast. Also, why exactly does Rome and the Indy Guals get an automatic alliance if you aren't playing as Rome, it really screwed them over because they were stuck in Italy the whole game.

Thanks in advanced for anyone who tolerates these questions.

Welcome to the forum mate . Here:

    1. The new generals won't harm your royal bloodlines so just feel free to get them if you have time and money. And Late generals bodyguard is very useful for eastern factions since they're a cataphract

    2. No idea but i think they just like faction leader and heir.

    3. Parthians/Sycthians have more cavalry/units than other faction when AI control them. When you playing them yourself via provincial campaign they just have normal units size. The reason is: to make the game more realistic (since both of them is a horse factions), give them some advance since they completely lack of infantry (not including AOR units), to make the game more challenge for players when you fight again them or use them (70 cavalry/units is overpower if players using them)

    4. Not sure about this one since i'm not good when using phalanx LOL but just draw your formation like vanila

    5. Independent factions in reality is a combine of many small factions. So they won't fight "together" quite often. They're more like rebel than real factions. Most of time they will get chew up by "real" factions. Anyway XGM is a amazing mod since every campaign is different than the other

Thanks a lot, that's good to know. Time to go on a general building spree.

That's what I thought too, but when I tried a Parthian provincial campaign I was able to recruit 70 horse archers per unit (in addition to the regular 50 sized). I was wondering if it was a glitch or intentional (I don't quite have the most recent version if it is a new fix).

The larger units should only be available to the AI, so there might be an error in the hidden resources for the provincial campaign. Thanks for the report.
