Your Ultimate Balanced Stack

Imagine, your land is invaded by three full stacks and you don't know what's in those stacks because your spies are on vacation in Spain. You prey to the Allmighty Spaghetti Monster for help, and he agrees with you because you once have let him win with poker. He'll promise you one full stack containing twenty units of ANY faction available. His conditions are that you must create a balanced stack, and face your opponent in the open. What combo would you use? You can take ANY unit from ANY faction and create a BALANCED army with it.




Here's mine:

1 General's Bodyguard
6 Aventuros for the main line.
3 Genoese Crossbowmen
2 Jinetes
2 Norse War Clerics
3 Venetian Heavy Infantries or Janissaries
1 Scot's guard
2 Imperial Knight units

15 Chilvaric Knights and 5 random Horse Archers. (to hunt for routers)

But if it has to be balanced... hmm...

For cavalry, I'd bring 5 Demi lancers and a Gen Bodyguard.

For range I'd bring 5 units of Retinue Longbows, or maybe Aventuriers. If the terrain is very flat I'd bring muskets instead.
For Infantry I'd bring 2 Tercio pikes and 7 Conquistadores (cuz Conquistadores eat up just about anything else)

It´s actually quite hard when you can choose from ANY faction ^::^

First, you've got 20 spaces to put four types of troops in there. You have melee, missile, cavalry, and artillery. Depending on how much artillery I want in the stack, I'll have four to six of each of the other three types. 16 or 18 groups of soldiers with 2 or 4 catapults or whatever I've got. Usually the wall breaking type over the soldier killing type.

Split that up even more if possible into 2 or 3 defensive infantry and 2 or 3 offensive infantry. An example would be Hungary's Dismounted Knights/Pavise Spearmen and Croat Axemen. With Cavalry you can split it into Hungarian Nobles/Magyar Cavalry and Royal Banderiums/Other Heavy Cavalry. One heavy cavalry includes the general of the army. The missile units would be split between Bosnian Archers and Pavise Crossbow Militia.

An even number of each type, with a mix within those types. Sounds balanced to me.

Actually, not balanced, but 1 general + 19 mamluk archers (dvor cavalry, sipahi, vardar valley horses) would work best.
