RTR crash in single player campaign

i have checked my map.rwm file, and have all required patches, but yet it still crashes halfway through load. i have been reading several other topic/post thingies (i am new to this) but none of the solutions were any good.

help would be much appreciated, i need this mod to play online with a friend.

Welcome to the forums. Now if you could provide a few more details we could probably help you out. For instance -

What RTR mod are we talking about?
What RTW version are you running?
Have you installed the latest RTW patches?
Did you install the game in the correct folder?

The more details the better

rtr platinum... don'y remember exactly which version, but it was the most recent i could find on the site (it was the rtr official site)

i am running rome total war by sega, from 2005/4 sometime around there (i am typing this up at school (at home i have very limited internet access, and can't do it there) so i apologise if my information is a little vague, i will get more specifics when i can)

i have rtw patch 1.5, at the oldest, and another patch i had to install before that (i think it was 1.3)

my rtw is in a creative assembly folder, not activision, and i intstalled it there (c drive-program files-the creative assembly-rome total war)

i can still play custom battles, see the units and everything, if that is any help.

Have you deleted your map.rwn? that is most likely the culprit

so- the specifics:

i have rtw by sega year 2002-2004 no special version, not barbarian invasion or alexander

i have checked the map .rwm file and i know that it is not there when i start it up, but a new one is recreated when i try starting the campain (but thank you for your idea, any other ideas that you think might work?)

I have patch 1.5 and 1.3..

i downloaded the mod from rometotalrealism.org, and have version 6.0, 1.9 platinum

This seems to be your problem. RTR 6.0(Gold) and RTR Platinum 1.9 are not compatible with each other. If you are patched to RTW 1.5 you need to install RTR Platinum, as it's based on the RTW 1.5 patch.

I would do a clean install of RTW and make sure your patched to 1.5. Then download RTR Platinum mod switch version as it doesn't overwrite any of the original game files(although you may want to check with your friend to make sure you have the exact same versions if you hope to play MP with him)

on the site though it writes 6.0 gold and 1.9 platnum as the same thing, so i am not sure which (if no both) i actually have... so i will just delete the rtr installation folder, then re-download 1.9

so if i reinstall rtw will i also have to reinstall the patches (1.3/1.5 etc)? or is there some folder where i can just copy/paste?
how do i even uninstall rtw, i looked but i have no uninstall option. i deleted the entire folder but when i inserted the disk it did not give me an option to install, so i had to use a recovery program to get it back...

i will definitely try it, and will get back to you, though it may not be for a couple days...fair warning.

I would uninstall RTW using windows add/remove programs.

Regarding the RTW patches you may be already patched to 1.5. This can be checked by going to the options menu in-game, the patch version is on the top right of the screen. If not you can find the patches here in the RTR-Downloads and Mod Index

tried it on friday, it worked, only had pc access now...

thanks a lot, the both of you, it now works.

is there anything you think i should know about the mod before i play it?

also (i realize this is not exactly on topic, feel free to ignore this)

i have heard that there is a mod for mp campaigns. do you know anything of this? would you recommend it if you have?

I never heard about an RTW mod for multiplayer campaigns, as far as I know that's not possible on the engine. Only Napoleon Total War, CA's latest game, has got the multiplayer campaign battle function.
