Default Newbie to game asking a few question :)

Well not entirely newbie but I am no pro either.

I bought this game last month after my friend told me how great it was. And he was right. I was totally hooked.

Even after beating the game three times (now on my forth) I am still very much addicted hahaha~

Anyway I could use some help here though. It would be great if someone could just point me to the right direction.

    1. I am having a great problem with princesses. After like 150 turns into the game, I always get a whole bunch of them past chld bearing age. When I checked my agents there are no princesses. I looked at my family tree there are alot of unclickable female icons well over 30 years old. Is it some sort of bug I am unaware of? I've been googling for this with no avail.

    2. Does anyone think the PAUSE thingy on the battlefield is way too big in the center? Is there a mod to get rid of this?

After the princess crosses over that age she can't marry no more and is sent to a nunnery so that's why she is un-clickable. Better marry her before she reaches her 30's.

It never bugged me but i think it's moddable but i haven't seen any mod getting rid of it. And the modding part is a bit typical so better to leave it at that.

Thats the problem. I check my agent list every turn to make sure I left no princesses out. Yet I have alot of female icons on my family tree I cant click at all. This is pretty exasperating because I have alot of male family members in their 40s and 50s but no wife and children.

Here is a screenshot of a royal daughter at 26 but unclickable

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Oh you mean those yeah that are not royal princesses but normal gals and they randomly get marriage proposals in game if lucky, i always accept them even if a general is not good in stats as who knows she will get an offer or not.
So in short they are part of family tree but unclickable unfortunately.

Aww...now I sound dumb hahaha. I thought any daughter of a family member would be a princess.
Now I have like 15 unmarried old gals due for nunnery and like another 15 bachelors waiting to terminate my family tree =(

I'm surprised you don't have the whole map uncovered by now.
Do you use diplomats, at all?

Not really I gave up on diplomats haha.

Only when I see a good foreign princess, then I would recruit one to ask for marriage. I have one always on standby beside the pope too.

Is there anything good to get from exploring the map?

Just to satisfy the curious mind thats all i guess.
But you can exchange map information to shed some light on the unrevealed territory if you want to.
It's all like getting to know and make or plan in advance you moves etc.

I explore areas I intend to conquer with spies instead as they have a greater line of sight. They can infiltrate the settlement I intend to attack too. Spies are awesome tools against papal intervention . Too many times have I siege a castle only to have the pope asking me to back off or face excommunication the very next turn. Spies allow me to attack right away without carrying catapults around.

I do not explore the maps anymore. Although I have only played the game 4 times, its pretty easy to remember the map. In fact I could already remember all which settlements will be cities and which ones will be castles.
