Default RTW.EXE Has a problem and needs to be closed etc.

Something has been killing me with annoyance lately...

Okay, so I install SPQR on a clean 1.2 version of RTW, right? Then I patch SPQR to the newest version. Alright, everything looks fine. Then I run the game by the RTW.exe-thing in the main folder. The game starts. Intro, bla bla bla, lots of Romans marching, Carthage, Gaul and Greece are represented in turn, main menu. It all works swimmingly.

Then I exit the game, and modify the Preferences.txt -file. I turn off limited ammo, turn on unlimited men on the battlefield, turn off the restricted camera, turns glints on, turn on subtitles, turn off First Time Play, and maybe I modify a few other slightly insignificant little things as well.

Then I start the game again, the same way as before, by the .exe file in the main RTW folder. Bang! "Tw.exe has encountered a problem and needs to be closed. We apologize for the inconvinience. If you were working on something... etc".

What in the holy hell is going on here?! You should be able to modify Preferences.txt, right?!

I'd also like to add that I have a "Real" version of RTW. That is, it's not a pirate. Don't think it would matter, but I just thought I'd mension it. So... what the bloody hell is going on?!

I'd try doing each of the modifications to the file one-by-one until you find the one that crashes the game.

Kinda like trial and error I suppose...
I've got half a mind to kill you...and the other half agrees.

Well, not long ago, I entered the Preferences.txt again, but decided I would try not changing anything after all, so I exited without having done anything. When I entered the game again, the same thing happened.
