starting this thread to hope fully see if someone can suggest one that I havent seen, dont bother with the popular ones that are widely known. Ill give one though, In The Mouth of Maddess a John Carpenter movie that pays homage to HP Lovecraft.

What??? I just rewatched it and it reminded me of how brilliant it is. It's not about action, it's about paranoia, it's brilliance is that noone knows who is the Thing. The scene where they test each other's blood is brilliant because you don't know what is going to happen!
I wasnt expecting action, actually I was expecting to get sucked into the movie which didnt happen. WHen I watch horror movies I expect something more dense like evil dead, for example. In evil dead you really cant realize time is passing. In the thing there are some moments when Id rather eat some popcorn than actually watch the movie. Maybe it is just a matter of taste.

The Haunting, Kwaidan (Japanese Film), and Rosemary's Baby. No clue if they're actually underrated, but being older movies from the 60's they often get overlooked.

I would like to mention the 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead by Tom Savini. Very seldom mentioned when talking about Romero's Dead movies and almost a bit forgotten. As far as remakes goes, this one is top quality since it stays true to the original yet adds a new twist, so to speak. George Romero himself produced it and was very much involved in the movie, and you can tell it's done by people who really love the original, and not just out to cash in on a popular franschise.
Dead snow, the best Norwegian nazy zombie splatter movie ever made.
I bought it for the cheesy tag line but got really impressed by how it managed to be genuinely scary. Basicly it's the perfect mix of camp, scares, and blood and guts.
Hehe sounds like Flight of the Living Dead then, real cheesy title, touch of humor but still a surprisingly fun movie to watch. Hmm guess the old original Texas Chainsaw is somewhat neglected now a days but all true horror fans would have seen it so guess doesnt count
Was good no questioning it but I thought the Dawn of the Dead remake was even better, hell imo it surpassed all of Romero's films.I would like to mention the 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead by Tom Savini. Not a fan of horror movies but I kind of liked The Mist, had The Twilight Zone ish the Monsters are due on Maple Street sort of feel towards it.

A little horror and very depressing movie was Requiem for a dream.
I have never been all that impressed by Romero honestly. Thought the Dawn of the Dead remake was awful to.
