Default This happens to you too ?

So, everytime I assasinate a enemy family member the next turn it appears another one, is this a bug or something .... ? It's very annoying, it pisses me off, you get the point. Sorry for my bad english, if you don't understand what I'm trying to say, here are some pictures.

his family member (before he is killed) http://img825.imageshack.us/img825/1256/grecia1d.jpg

and the next turn, hehe surprise, here's another family member http://img837.imageshack.us/img837/953/grecia3.jpg

Maybe there was a general in Apollonia that was sent out to be part of that army?
    Meh.

no, I killed the fm garisoned in Apollonia

@HanatielHawk - I don't cheat, I have ~580000 denari because I'm playing on M/M (I'm a newb, on VH the Al kicks my but) and with the Greek City States you cand get like 5000 denari per turn from only 1 city, for example Athens has 6200 income

thanks for the reply guys, so it isn't a bug, well, I'll stick to sabotage buildings

Happens to me all the time. Seems this benefit only goes to the ai, which makes it even mre annoying. That is why I only use assasins against enemy agents and occasionally captains.

Doesn't the game try to give factions a certain number of family members based on the number of regions you own? Possibly, the AI is offered adoption candidats every time a fm is killed... kind of also happens to the human player, maybe not that soon though

Never happened to me, when I kill somebody they are dead and not respawned^^ Perhaps it's because you're cheating

Nah - that happens to the player aswell - loose a family member and soon you'll get a new one.
Just make a heroic victory after that with an army which is lead by a captain and you'll get a "man of the hour" general for example or one of the ladies will find a decent husband - never thought this to be a bug but a game feature.

This has happened to me, but the only time I noticed was once when playing as WRE on VH/VH...I'm guessing the AI is given that advantage to challenge you. I had to kill off the last two family members in the same turn to destroy the whole civilization (was the Roxolani, as I recall...).

It is not a bug and yes it is very annoying. Unlike the previous games Shogun or the first Medieval you can not eliminate factions anymore by killing the family members.
There seems to be a certain number (based on the provinces I guess) that has always be to kept. Therefore even when you kill ten FM a turn there will soon be ten new adopted in the next few turns.

Assassination is only useful to lower the morale of armies before a single battle but not to defeat factions. Which is sad because I loved this additional way to gain victory in STW and MTW.

You can eliminate faction with killing every family member. Just that with settled factions, it is hard to organize because of adoptions.

You can kill hordes with this though. Sometimes they have their whole family in the same battle (sometimes in one stack, sometimes as reinforcements)

    off:
I have also seen the _AI_ defeat Spain in M2TW:Americas. Theoretically it shouldn't be possible, because the natives cannot build a ship thus cannot reach Cuba. But the Ai still managed: Vélazqez died in Cuba, while his heir was slain in the jungle. Faction destroyed

Not Entirely true...In my last greek campaign I have previously destroyed the Brutti and Scippi through conquest...but the Juli were proving troublesome so I sent some assassins after all their generals that I could. In the end of the course of a number of years I must of killed at least 20-30 roman generals through my assassin...

I then sent one army to attack their faction leader who was at Segestica...He had a pitiful force there and I easily won...However once the battle was over...the Juli faction was no more! And no that was not there last settlement either...They had at least 5-7 more settlements in around where Gaul starts...So in Hindsight because I killed so many of their generals their whole family tree was used up and they only had one last general in Segesta...and once he was killed in the siege of it they had no more family members left...

So you can end a faction through various use of assassins however I do not know if I had killed that last general with an assassin if I would of gotten the same thing to happen...

IMHO it's ok for me that you can't eliminate whole factions that easy by assassinating only a few family members.
I do prefer it the battle way anyways. However - it is possible - i did it once or twice e.g. with the scipii holding
only one settlement and two family members - assassinated those and the next turn they became rebels.

Well in Shogun:TW you could eliminate a faction controlling half of the campaign map by killing two family members.
But to compensate this the factions could reemerge when there was low public order ...

edit: not only in Shogun but also Medieval:TW. From Rome:TW onwards it was not possible anymore except when the AI faction was very small like the one province mentioned by Chris Death.

You should know better - just take a look into your TB and see: give_trait/ancillary

What do you think they could be used for in this case here?

However - it's definetely not happening because of cheating.

If there was a little Family Member in Apollonia, and in next turn he came to age, then the computer sent him out to the big army?

There actually is. When a character is killed and you don't want it, reload the game and replace the character to somewhere else. But this isn't actually a cheat There is no such thing as a cheat to bring characters back to life.
