    Default Lords of Midnight Mod

    Hello all, I remember reading somewhere there was a Lords of Midnight mod being planned, based on the 80's ground breaking game by Mike Singleton. Does anyone know if this project was ever released?

    I'm not sure, but I'm guessing its dead. Wolfen made some nice progress on it but no ones seen him around for a while now.

    Víkingr is quite correct, the mod is functional but not complete. I have not made any headway since the site I used to post my progress on went down.

    It has also been a while since I last visited this forum, I am not exactly a regular here so this topic slipped me by, sorry Phil Savory.

    Is it available for download, do you have a link please? I was a massive fan of LoM, and I think your mod had great potential.

    No link, I never made a complete release. I did have an alpha version I uploaded for testing for Mitch23.

    The mod still needs a fair bit of work, from unit balance and text descriptions. Traits and ancillaries need completed also Morkins quest scripting is not finished.

    Also it had a couple of bugs, like custom battle would crash and some may have a white UI bug, but I believe that was due to them having the wrong Kingdoms patch version. The mod was coming together quite nicely I must say, but still needed hours and hours of work to make it complete. When the forum I used to post my progress on went down I put all my Total War work to the side.

    I could upload what I have done, but I would have to sort through it all and that may take me a while, check back with this thread in a couple of days. Just do not expect a perfect LOM clone when you go playing it.

    Perhaps, but to be honest it is a work in progress and this is the "Wips, Ideas, and Proposals" section, it seems appropriate.

    Hello, thought I'd give some feedback. Mod looks great, sterling work!! Fey Faction works great, but unfortunately I get a CTD on the Free as soon as I press end turn on turn one. Any suggestions? Haven't tried the Targ or Foul yet, but will let you know. Thanks again

    Probably Morkins script as the Fey do not have it, do the other factions work past turn one?

    I might have time later to look into it, right now I have to go pick up the kid from school.


    Edit - Bug confirmed, if you want to play Free, do not send Morkin on his quest. I will check it out later, now I am off.

    Okay I have had a quick look, and I realised why it is broken. I was in the middle of changing the naming convention before I stopped work, so most script counters/events are not named correctly. It was in preparation for expanding the script and making Morkins quest diverge into different routes.


    It is not hard to fix, just it will take a bit of time to work through it all. I should be able to post a small patch tomorrow. Other races should not have this problem as that script only really affects the Free.

    I fixed up the script file so Morkins quest works, I also noticed that the custom Blood battle script was disabled, I have enabled it in this tiny patch. It is only one file, drop the folder into your mods folder, replace all when asked.

    The download is attached.


    Any other problems or suggestions, please post them here and I will see what I can do.

    Works great!!! As usual, the Plains of Blood have turned into a bloodbath (no pun intended) as the Foul Horde descend upon me, and there are no sight of the Fey yet! Come on, Corleth, where are you? This is bringing back many happy memories, thanks again

    Good, glad it works, any more problems or if you have suggestions, let me know.

    Without the script, it is far too easy to hold the plains, hopefully it has been hard for you to hold it early in the game.

    Wolfen, you are my hero! I've been waiting for 23 years for this! Since I was 12, I fantasized about the epic battles between the Free and the Foul.
    Let me know if I can help you with anything.

    Any compatibility issues with this mod? Does it work with all versions of TWM2?

    sorry i haven't been in touch recently - although dead pc and dead forum didn't help (that's my excuse and i'm sticking to it)

    i won't promise to do any more as i know i will having trouble sticking to it, and don't want you to be waiting for me,
    but i will wish you luck,
    and i will play the updated alpha and give you feedback,
    and if, by some chance, i do manage to write some more text i'll send it through

    Just the latest patch for Kingdoms, not like I tried every version of Medieval 2 their is, if you have problems, just report it back to me.

    Since the mod resurfacing I have done the odd bit of work on it over the week. So far I have given each faction it's on culture, each race has specific type of portraits to give each faction a certain look and feel (renaming 800 files was not fun). The Foul and brigands now have captain portraits.

    The Free and Fey can recruit Merc Free Warriors in Free lands and Merc Fey warriors in Fey land, I have added this to help represent their alliance. Soon as you break the alliance by attacking them, you will no longer be able to recruit their warriors.

    I have fixed a few small bugs and did a few other changes, but a lot of work is still needed in order for it to be finished. If you or anyone wants to help Apollon, just let me know through PM, tell me what you can do and how you would prefer to help.

    Today I can not do much to the mod as I am off to the Medieval market right now, been snowing for days too here, should be great fun.
