    Default Burning Rams

Is there any way for rams (and siege towers for that matter) to catch fire besides the large flaming missiles that come out of wall towers?

I ask because I have been in a few occasions recently where I've had my archers focus-fire a ram with flaming arrows but nothing ever happened to the ram (same has happened with towers). I seem to remember being able to burn them down, but since its been a long time since I've played M2 actively, I don't know for sure!

You are right. But you need the fire arrows from the towers ("ballista towers", catapults). Then the rams and the siege towers will burn.

I think with only bowmen on the walls it is not easy to burn the ram.

However, the tower is a much better target, I usually burn it down (or let it to my tower, so my knight have an easiter time slaughtering the opponents)

I think itīs nigh impossible to set a tower or ram aflame with flaming arrows only (regardless of numbers), but that they nonetheless make it easier for the defense towers to ignite them.
It takes A LOT of fire arrows to make it burn, but they seem to catch fire faster when you have a few hundred men barraging them along with the defense towers.

Donīt know for sure if they actually add to the fire, or if itīs just because they clear away enemies who would otherwise be in the way, or if itīs just my imagination.
But I choose to believe that that flaming arrows are useful (until someone can prove otherwise ^::^)

    Its not impossible at all.
Ive even sent 2 units of archers out in a sally, get them in range of the ram/seige towers, and flaming arrow them to ash.
Have to watch the bad guys, tho, sometimes, they will send units to eat my archers.

When I first played I only made 1 ram and attacked on the second turn every time. I learned the hard way when they burned my ram and I lost the battle.

It all seems to come down to chance in my experience. Sometimes siege weapons can be set alight as they approach your walls, but then there was this time when I was attacking a settlement and as I was fighting on the battlements (this was quite prolonged, lasted about 5-10 minutes I think) the enemy archers were constantly firing volleys in to one of my siege towers even long after all the men manning it had exited it. Eventually it set on fire but it was pointless to have destroyed it because I had two sets of ladders and another siege tower set up on the walls too. Your best bet would be either to upgrade to ballista/cannon towers (though this makes siege battles extremely easy) or to deploy either mortars, trebuchets, or mangonels inside your settlements and set them to fire at siege weapons.
