Icon5 Can any computer whizzes tell me...

is there any way to extract the animated background from the menu screen of MTWII? I'm talking about the one showing the profiles of soldiers walking past. Can that be taken out of the game and made into a gif or something? I'd like to use it in a PowerPoint for my history class if possible... thanks in advance for your help.

I'm sure there is a way. I just couldn't tell you the method. I'm assuming that the animation is a .bik file so you would probably need to find the Bink editing suite and look for a menu animation file somewhere in your M2 folder. Sorry but that is as much as I can add to this discussion. Good luck!

There is one in "[M2TW folder]\data\fmv\menu\Dump0000.bik".

Since it's in the "...\fmv\menu\" folder then that is likely the one you'd need. Check Ishan's post for more specifics. Essentially convert this to an .avi file and it could be used with most MS programs that allow for movies.

Making it into a screensaver is not totally out of the question but I think you'd need at least Vista or Win7 w/Aero to make it work. I haven't played with anything like that in a long time so I really couldn't say more.

You use Bik Rad tools to convert this file that is Dump0000.bik file into .avi file.

And after that in you Powerpoint slide show you can play this .avi file if you have the right codec for it like K-lite codec pack etc.

I have no idea how to do something like that, but it is a really cool idea!
Thanks to those guys who are better than me at this (Brage bless you), I might give it a try myself...
