    Default Total War Games.

we've seen Europe's history through the series.

Rome Total War - Classic Europe
Med 2 Total War - Medieval Period
Empire Total War - Empire Age
Nap Total War - Industrial Age

what's next? yup. the early modern age. that includes the first world war.

Will this be the next in line? Europe Total War that will include the age of the 1st World war.

Isn' t it in a wrong forum?
I hope they do not do the World Wars. Knights, Romans, Samurais and Greeks are better.

Really they should do Greece Total War when all the city states in Greece and Asia Minor were fighting it out. Sparta, Athens, Rhodes, Corinth etc.. Or the time of the renaissance where there was the rise of the Swedish Empire after the Thirty Years War.

Why?... Mods cover all of this. Way better than CA ever could.

Remaking Rome (and make it far better, and modable) would be CA's greatest achievement, ever.

Remaking Rome would be awesome but a Total war dedicated to Greece is a must. I dont know how CA were able to ignore this. You could have the Sparta Athens wars, Persian invasions etc. Maybe they could release an expansion to Rome 2 solely dedicated to all of Greece and Asia Minor.
And what mods cover Pike and shot ? that type of warfare needs to be adequately developed in a professional manner into a game. The thirty years war was too major a conflict to be ignored by the makers.

Well there are enough eras left:
    - Bronze Age TW (Minoans, Mykene, Troja, Hittites, Babylon and Egypt)
    - ancient Europe (Greeks and Etruscians, Persians)
    - Late Antiquity (Justinians reconquest and Rise of Islam),
    - Dark Ages (Franks and British against Vikings, Sarazens and Magyars)
    - Renaissance
    - Religious Wars in the 17th century (30 years war in Germany, Hugenotts in France, English Civil War)
    - the age of Imperialism (1820 to 1914)
    - World Wars
    - Or maybe Cold War and modern world

Not to mention enough possibilities in Asia also ... East-Asia, India and Southeast-Asia can feature interesting, colourful and exotic empires and campaign also.

No it would be a very different situation on the campaign map. About the weapons or tactics I think there might not be much difference though.

There was a big difference, the main type of soldier in most European armies was the infantry, there was some cavalry in the Frankish and eastern European armies, but infantry ruled the day.

Infantrymen would typically carry a large round shield to protect them from damage, javelins to throw once the enemy was close enough, and swords, spears and axes for when they were face to face. Shieldwall tactics were very popular, it was a similar formation to the Greek phalanx. The shield walls were quite effective, and could give a major advantage over cavalry, thus why cavalry was not used much. Other formations like the wedge shaped "boars snout" were used to counter shieldwalls. Two handed axemen and such units could also be used as shock infantry to break a hole in a shieldwall. Bows were also used, but not to the same extent was they were in the later Medieval period, Crossbows were also being introduced by this time. Armour was typically light for flexibility.

Later we had a lot of heavy armour, lances, cavalry, archers, and shields getting smaller and smaller as time went by. Two very different types of warfare.

The Dark Ages would be a very good next step for CA, this was the time when many of Europe's countries were formed, when Paganism and Christianity were at war, when the Muslims started invading, when the Vikings raided Europe, When Russia was formed. There is a lot that could be covered.

Interesting so some major differences. Thanks.

Yes, as I wrote the campaign part and history is very different from Medieval:TW and maybe even more interesting.

    Well, Shogun, then Rome2.

I think the total war engines is not suited for WW1 and WW2. Also, it would not be interesting to wait for 30 minutes until your guys clear a machine gun nest...

If they go into 1900, I might just cry. CA has proved that they are much better at creating games where bows, not firearms, are the main ranged weapon, and there is no such thing as a star fort.
Jon had taken Donal and Benjen’s advice to heart: Sam may be fat and pathetic, but he is still a member of the watch, and one of the few black brothers who isn't a rapist or thief. (out of context, this sounds ridiculously racist)

I would like Modern Warfare 3 Total Wat. You know, you could unlock upgrades for weapons, have all kinds of perks, and get scripted to do last second stuff. Killstreaks would be mandatory

Perhaps China Total War. An area as large as and as diverse as Europe. The scenic change would be rather nice.
Or Mongol Total War, since most of the Total War games have included Mongols in them at some point or another. Imagine sweeping across from Sengoku Japan to Medieval Europe. It's doable as it is smaller in scope that than Empire.
