For some odd reason, , my MTW2 is only working with vanilla!!!!(?)

Every mod that I have tried so far has worked, until I try to start a campagine/play a custom battle or anything past the main menu. then I get a CTD and an error message saying, "MTW2 has encounterd an unspecified error."...WHAT IS GOING ON!!! Its been doing this for the past few days, and nothing I do helps(Reinstalling mainly, I cant think of anything else to do)I am getting really FRUSTRATED!!!!!!!!!


OK, so I feel really stupid, My Game was patched to 1.04...I thought MTW2 Gold was automatically patched to 1.5 I am about to try patching it, I will than post if that was the problem.

Lol firstly that thread title is a bit exaggerated bro chill out.

Now the thing is there is no patch v1.04 for vanilla as v1.04 is kingdoms itself and v1.05 applies to kingdoms only and is the last patch.
Vanilla has can be patched upto v1.03 which i think it's already done by default in Gold Edition.

Anyways report back when you download the patch v1.05.

No. Patching it did not help. I really cannot figure out what is wrong.

"Ya see, It all started when I moved my MTW2 folder to the Recycle bin(for some reason I cant remember)and it got deleted, without being uninstalled. So I had to go to the control panel and uninstall the nonexsitant MTW2. I reinstalled, and now no mods work... thats not exactly true, i have only tried Retrofit+BBB and DLV( I'm about to try TATW)

Well let me get this straight you deleted the Medieval 2 folder to recycle bin and it accidently got trashed permanently.
And then you un-installed it as well through control panel.

Now you are saying that no mods work on it right?

So it's simple Reinstall the game with the Gold disc that you got as mods requires the basic game first.

Or am i missing something?

No, I did reinstall lol(i have been playing...Vanilla*shudder*)

Retrofit overwrites some vanilla files so beware. Vanilla and any other mod afterwards may not work as advertized.

Well, Vanilla works fine, and retrofit does, but not retrofit+BBB, and not other mods...
Which is wierd considering the fact that before I deleted it, I had Retrofit+BBB, TATW, SS, DV, etc... But now...nope!

The rest take Kingdoms 1.5. Can you start a campaign in the four Kingdoms campaigns that came with it?

because I was trying to save space by only installing one.
yes, I can, but when I go to my main MTW2 folder, and click the Kingdoms.exe, it starts Vanilla MTW, gets to the first loading screen before the intro, and crashes with a blank error box.

It saves problems laater. Kingdoms.exe is not standalone. Start the campaign that gor installed with it if possible.

If it does not start a new campaign-Americas, Brittania, etc - you have a bad 1.5 download.

Tuetonic(SP?) first, and then Britania(sp?) is the current one, and their is no difference in the way anything works.

I'd suggest you need to reinstall the whole thing including all the campaigns at one time, download and install a fresh 1.5 patch, and try a Teutonic campaign.

If you start a Teutonic campaign, then try installing another mod.

If you are going to install the Retrofit mod, be sure the 1.5 patch is working, then copy the whole Medieval2 foleder and install Retrofit inthe copy.

Im not sure about anything else yet, but RP works, so, thats really the perfect mod for me anyway.
By the way, in my campagine, on the campagine map, my sea trade routes and the little caravans arent showing up. How do I make them show up?

On lower resolutions those sprites won't show up on the Campaign map to save resources. If you have the GPU for it then you could boost the resolution a bit. What res are you playing in?

In RP, sea trade and trade routes don't show up good until shipwright and warehouse are built.

They don't show up on low settings, either.
